The CW Has Already Renewed 'Walker,' 'Riverdale' & 10 Other Shows!

The CW is issuing early renewals to many of it’s series!

The network just announced that 12 shows will be back for new seasons, according to Variety.

Among the early renewals include new show Walker, as well as Riverdale, The Flash, Legacies, Batwoman, Charmed, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Nancy Drew, Roswell, New Mexico, In The Dark, Dynasty, and All American.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Roswell, New Mexico, In The Dark and Dynasty have yet to premiere their new seasons on the network.

“Though we’re just a few weeks into the new season, we wanted to get a strategic head start on next season with these early renewals, which allows our production teams to start laying out story arcs and hiring staff, and at the same time, continues to provide us with a strong, stable schedule to build on for next season,” CW President Mark Pedowitz said in a statement.

“As The CW’s 2020-2021 season kicks into high gear, we are thrilled creatively with the direction of our first new shows out of the gate, Walker and Superman & Lois, that we wanted to order the additional episodes to complete their first seasons, and we are particularly pleased with the huge success of the launch of Walker, which debuted as our most watched series premiere in 5 years.”

The CW has also ordered five more episodes for Walker‘s current first season, and two more episodes of Superman & Lois, which premieres later this month.

'All American' Spinoff In The Works at The CW

'All American' Spinoff In The Works at The CW

The CW is reportedly working on a spinoff of All American!

The football drama will air a backdoor pilot in the current third season, Deadline reveals.

Geffri Maya will reprise her role as Simone Hicks for the spinoff, tentatively titled All American: Homecoming. It will be “set against the backdrop of the HBCU experience. It follows a young tennis hopeful from Beverly Hills and an elite baseball player from Chicago as they contend with the high stakes of college sports, while also navigating the highs, lows and sexiness of unsupervised early adulthood at a prestigious Historically Black College.”

This is the latest spinoff series that is in the works for The CW. The potential Nancy Drew spinoff Tom Swift just recently cast it’s leading man.

Also in the works is a Black Lightning spinoff, following Jordan Calloway‘s Painkiller.

Spinoffs that aren’t making it to The CW include Green Arrow & The Canaries and The 100 prequel, which is still up in the air. Find out what happened to Green Arrow and the Canaries!

'All American' Showrunner Reveals How They Filmed Large Crowd Scenes Amid Pandemic

'All American' Showrunner Reveals How They Filmed Large Crowd Scenes Amid Pandemic

All American is BACK on The CW TONIGHT (January 18) for it’s third season!

The series returns with some changes due to filming during the pandemic.

Showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll opened up about how the series tackled the changes.

“The biggest thing is we are a young adult show that loves to throw parties — homecoming, everybody’s birthday — and now it’s just like, ‘Uh uh, what three people are getting together to have coffee and a chat?’” she told Variety. “We started writing the season end of February — I rolled directly from Season 2 into Season 3 — so by the time the pandemic hit and it was like it was here to hang out for a while, we went back and did our COVID pass on [scripts] and flagged scenes with too many extras in it.”

For party scenes or large gatherings, they switched them up to focus more on private moments happening, and for the football scenes…

“Football’s full contact; socially distanced football works for drills at practice but not for games and it’s their senior year so it just felt crazy [not to have football] if we weren’t addressing COVID on the show,” she added. “Effectively, what we created was a football bubble, modeled after what the NBA did.”

During quarantine, the more than 50 players and experts who make up the different football teams were tested four days a week, were given “individual sanitization bags,” which included masks and hand sanitizer. One of the masks in the bag was flesh colored so they could wear it during filming and it would be easy to edit out if caught on camera.

“There’s going to be a lot of halftime, on their way to the bathroom conversations this season so we can put them on our stages instead,” Nkechi said.

Improvised hugging or kissing was also not allowed, and the only included “moments of a hug or a kiss in a script if it was absolutely integral to the storyline.”

The CW Reveals Schedule For 2020/2021 Season

The CW Reveals Schedule For 2020/2021 Season

The CW has just announced when all of your favorite shows will be coming back!

The network unveiled the schedule for the Fall 2020/2021 season, which will actually kick off in January 2021, Deadline reports.

CW President Mark Pedowitz shared that the late start won’t affect the number of episodes, and the episodes that weren’t able to be filmed due to productions being shut down, will be filmed and included in the new seasons.

Most shows will continue with the same dates and times, with a few changes.

New shows Superman & Lois and Walker have been inserted into the schedule. Superman & Lois will air on Tuesday nights after The Flash, and Walker has taken over Supernatural‘s Thursday night time slot.

Another notable change is Charmed, which will move from Friday nights back to it’s original Sunday nights, taking the place of Supergirl, which is being put on hold, likely due to Melissa Benoist‘s pregnancy.

Supernatural‘s final episodes will also be filmed and those will air this fall in it’s regular time slot, Thursday night at 8/7c.

No word yet on when just announced Kung Fu and Republic of Sarah will air.
