Anna Akana just dropped the most breathtaking music video for her first single, “Intervention”.
This marks the 29-year-old influencer, and actress’s first foray into the music world.
“I had a scary phase last year when I became convinced I was going to kill myself,” Anna shared with Billboard about the decision to go into music.
“Therapy wasn’t working, I was off my meds, and I was ready to die. I even had a plan,” she adds. “And in the same way that comedy helped me 10 years ago to pull through after the death of my sister, music is what pulled me up from my low point last year.”
Anna continued, “I also feel like I’m more of an adult woman now, and I want to start conveying deeper messages and discussing more important issues, and I think music is an amazing way to do that. I’m happy I can do it!”
Anna‘s forthcoming album, Casualty, expected later this year.
The twins picked up the Lifestyle award at the event, while Niki DeMartino accepted the Fashion award on behalf of her and twin sis, Gabi, who wasn’t at the show.
Actress Anna Akana was also honored at the show, picking up the Acting in a Drama award for Youth & Consequences.

Anna Akana is opening up about her brand new YouTube Red series, Youth & Consequences, which is out today!
The digital influencer stopped by Build Series in New York City on Wednesday (March 7) to chat about the series, where she plays the queen bee.
“If I auditioned for something like this in the traditional world, I would never get it,” Anna says, knowing it’s the truth. “They would never hire an Asian woman to be the queen bee of a school.”
She adds, “You would have a Regina George type. Someone blonde, icy with blue eyes…”
Anna also shared that being on a show like this tackles a lot of issues that normally, she wouldn’t be comfortable tackling on her own personal channel.
“It has a lot of messages that I do believe in. I’m very into mental health awareness, and I believe in suicide prevention for teens.”
