The two stars joined musician Murs, Andre Meadows, director Gina Prince-Bythewood, moderator Joi Childs, and Shadowhunters‘ Isaiah Mustafa at the event, just ahead of the series premiere next week.
In a recent interview with SyFy Wire, Olivia and Aubrey opened up about their audition process, which they both described as long.
“[Gina] pulled a fast one on us and pulled Aubrey out into the hallway [during our audition] and told him that we were going to do an improv scene,” Olivia explained.
Aubrey added that they both really didn’t know what was going on but they “went in and improvised a full scene. By the end of it we were both in tears and it was one of those moments that you never forget. It was the beginning of Cloak and Dagger.”
Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger will premiere Thursday, June 7th on Freeform.
Olivia Holt keeps it classic in a navy jumpsuit for the 2018 Disney/ABC International Upfronts held at the Walt Disney Studio Lot on Sunday (May 20) in Burbank, Calif.
If you missed it before, the Cloak & Dagger showrunner had an idea about the two shows crossing over at some point.
“I’m a big fan of what Josh [Schwartz] and Stephanie [Savage] did on Runaways and we’re always talking about ‘When do we get to do our crossover?’ There’s probably 400 lawyers in the way… I’m excited for however Cloak & Dagger can play in the universe,” Joe Pokaski shared.

Olivia Holt steps out on the red carpet in a striking black and white printed dress at the 2018 ABC Freeform Upfronts held at Tavern On The Green on Tuesday night (May 15) in New York City.
“I’m really excited about it,” Olivia recently told Kidzworld. “I’m very proud of that project and confident that people will feel connected to it in some way or another.”
She adds about playing a budding superhero on the small screen, “It’s surreal. I’ve been a fan of all things Marvel since I was a kid so now, working with the company and playing a superhero on screen is pretty cool.”
“My character Tandy is one of the very few women on television that I’ve seen who is not just bold and powerful but complicated and resilient and she’s her own woman,” Olivia says. “She beats her own drum and she is very strong in her opinions and using her voice and I love all of those aspects about her and I’m excited for everybody to meet her.”
FYI: Olivia wore a Cushnie Et Ochs dress with Stuart Weitzman shoes.
The series is set to premiere in June on Freeform and almost everything else has changed from the comics – for a good reason.
“I kinda like the change that we did,” Aubrey shared with Syfy. “Because it’s important in society. TV has a very important place in society, and it shows us the stereotypes and things of that sort. We are used to seeing black families who aren’t well off and a household without both parents.”
“So it’s great that we still get to see a black family in a good light, but it changes the element of the show completely. But it still has that origin feel.”
Olivia added that Tandy and Tyrone’s lives are updated for the current times.
“We definitely have put a more current situation on these two characters, which I think is really nice,” she says. “I think it’s gonna be really great for the audience to relate to and feel like they’re not alone and to feel they could be Tandy or Tyrone.”
Olivia continues, “That’s super important for us in 2018, especially with everything that’s happening now. We want to be able to impact people and move them and make them feel something that is bigger than ourselves.”
Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger just shared the final trailer for the new series ahead of its premiere this June.
The series – which stars Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph – follows two teenagers from very different backgrounds.
The duo suddenly find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. One can emit light daggers and one has the ability to engulf others in darkness.
They quickly learn that they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.
