'Monsters At Work' Reveals First Look at New Characters, Mindy Kaling Joins The Cast

The first look at the new characters for the Monsters, Inc series Monsters At Work have been revealed!

The upcoming Disney+ series will see a slew of new characters, along with many familiar faces like Mike Wazowski and James P “Sulley” Sullivan.

Monsters At Work takes place the day after the Monsters, Incorporated power plant started harvesting the laughter of children to fuel the city of Monstropolis, thanks to Mike and Sulley’s discovery that laughter generates ten times more energy than screams. It follows the story of Tylor Tuskmon, an eager young monster who graduated top of his class at Monsters University and always dreamed of becoming a Scarer until he lands a job at Monsters, Incorporated, and discovers that scaring is out and laughter is in. After Tylor is temporarily reassigned to the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team (MIFT), he must work alongside a misfit bunch of mechanics while setting his sights on becoming a Jokester.

In addition to the first look at the new characters, it was just announced that Mindy Kaling has joined the cast as Val Little, an enthusiastic member of the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team (aka “MIFT”). Bonnie Hunt will also reprise her role as Ms. Flint, who was formerly in charge of training new Scarers at Monsters, Inc., but will now manage the department responsible for recruiting and training the funniest monsters to become Jokesters.

Other new voice additions include Ben Feldman as Tylor Tuskmon, Henry Winkler as Fritz, the scatterbrained boss; Lucas Neff as Duncan, an opportunistic plumber; and Alanna Ubach as Cutter, the officious rule follower.

Returning voices include Billy Crystal as Mike Wazowski, John Goodman as Sulley, John Ratzenberger as Yeti and Tylor’s dad, Bernard, Jennifer Tilly as Celia Mae and Bob Peterson as Roze, twin sister to his original Monsters, Inc. character, Roz, plus Stephen Stanton as Smitty and Needleman, the bumbling custodial team at Monsters, Inc., and Aisha Tyler as Tylor’s mom, Millie Tuskmon.

Monsters At Work will premiere July 2nd on Disney+!

Billy Crystal aka Mike Wazowski Gives Update On 'Monsters, Inc' Series 'Monsters At Work'

Billy Crystal aka Mike Wazowski Gives Update On 'Monsters, Inc' Series 'Monsters At Work'

We’re finally getting a new update on the upcoming Monsters, Inc. series for Disney+!

Star Billy Crystal, who voices Mike Zazowski, recently opened up about the new show, Monsters At Work, which is a sequel series to the original movie.

“It’s fantastic looking, it’s hilarious, and we’re having a lot of fun doing it,” he told Collider. “We’ve done a bunch [of episodes]. We’ve been on a break because of the pandemic. But some I was able to do at home and some I was able to do in a very deserted studio out in Burbank. To be the only one on the lot was a little weird. But yeah, we’re progressing. I don’t know when they’re gonna start [being released] but I promise you they’re really good.”

Here’s a synopsis: The series picks up six months after the original movie story, with the Monsters, Inc. power plant now harvesting the laughter of children to fuel the city of Monstropolis, thanks to Mike and Sulley’s discovery that laughter generates ten times more energy than screams.

Monsters At Work follows Tylor Tuskmon (Ben Feldman), an eager and talented young mechanic on the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team (MIFT) who dreams of working his way up to the factory Laugh Floor to become a Jokester alongside his idols Mike and Sulley.

The news was first announced back in 2019, with a 2020 release date, but of course, it’s been pushed back to 2021 like many other new movies and shows.

Monsters, Inc stars will return to voice their characters, including Billy as Mike, John Goodman as Sulley, John Ratzenberger as Yeti and the new character, Bernard, Jennifer Tilly as Celia Mae, and Bob Peterson as Roze, twin sister to his original Monsters, Inc. character, Roz.

Other new voices and characters include Kelly Marie Tran as Val Little, Tylor’s lifelong friend and confidante; Henry Winkler as Fritz, the scatterbrained boss, Lucas Neff as Duncan, an opportunistic plumber, Alanna Ubach as Cutter, the officious rule follower, Stephen Stanton as Smitty and Needleman, the bumbling custodial team and Aisha Tyler as Tylor’s mom, Millie Tuskmon.
