The Irwin family are remembering the late Steve Irwin this weekend.
The famed Crocodile Hunter would have been 58 years today (February 22) and his children, Bindi and Robert, are paying tribute on his birthday.
“Dad, Today is your birthday. I had an extra strong cup of tea just how you liked it. I hugged Mum for you and told her how much we love her,” Bindi shared on Instagram. “Robert and I went on a hike through the mountains you cherished. I watched one of your documentaries with Chandler and shared stories about you. I walked through your office in the zoo and smiled at our old family photographs. Today and every day I miss you and love you beyond description. You’re always with me. ❤️”
“Family Always ❤️,” Robert simply wrote, along with a family photo.
Bindi‘s fiance Chandler Powell also shared a message for Steve.
“Thank you for inspiring me and the whole world to love all wildlife. You would be so proud of Bindi, Terri and Robert carrying on the amazing work you started. We will all make sure your message lives on for generations❤️🐊,” he wrote on his page.
The family of the late Australian zookeeper Steve Irwin (aka “The Crocodile Hunter”) has treated over 90,000 animals hurt in the Australian wildfires.
Bindi Irwin says that their family’s Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital has been working nonstop to help the animals affected.
“With so many devastating fires within Australia, my heart breaks for the people and wildlife who have lost so much,” Bindiwrote on Instagram. “I wanted to let you know that we are SAFE. There are no fires near us @AustraliaZoo or our conservation properties. Our Wildlife Hospital is busier than ever though, having officially treated over 90,000 patients. My parents dedicated our Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital to my beautiful grandmother. We will continue to honour her by being Wildlife Warriors and saving as many lives as we can. 💙🙏🏼.”
“Blossom the possum was admitted to the #AustraliaZoo Wildlife Hospital after being caught in one of the bushfires burning in other parts of Queensland,” Bindi Irwin added along with a heartbreaking image. “We have such an incredible team who work day and night to protect gorgeous animals like Blossom. Devastatingly this beautiful girl didn’t make it even after working so hard to save her life. I want to thank you for your kind words and support. This is the heart-wrenching truth, every day is a battle to stand up and speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. Ecologists estimate that approximately 480 million animals have been affected by the fires in New South Wales since September, USA Today reports.
“Many of the affected animals are likely to have been killed directly by the fires, with others succumbing later due to the depletion of food and shelter resources and predation from introduced feral cats and red foxes,” a statement reads.
The 21-year-old conservationist posed with the adorable puppy and Chandler in a cute announcement on Instagram. The two first announced the news in November, however, took the photo down quickly.
“Our dear friend just had puppies & from the moment we looked at pictures of this lovebug we knew she was going to be part of our family,” Bindi shared in the original post, showing off the sleeping puppy in her hands. “Chandler & I are adopting!❤️”
Chandler adds in the new photo with the pup, named Piggy, “Welcoming our newest and cutest family member. Introducing Piggy our gorgeous puppy. Can’t wait to begin the new decade giving this sweetheart the happiest and most loving home🧡 2020 here we come!”
Bindi added a cute reply, saying, “My heart is overwhelmed with so much happiness and love ❤️ Here’s to the next incredible life chapter.”
“All smiles because I’m in love with you, it’s Christmas and my sweater lights up…” Bindi captioned the below post of she and Chandler cuddling.
Bindi then shared another post while decorating gingerbread houses, while wearing a sweater that reads, “Instead of Gifts I’m Giving Everyone My Opinion” along with the caption, “Christmas sweater or New Years resolution?”
During a recent interview, the 21-year-old conservationist talked about her upcoming wedding to Chandler Powell and said that she knows it’s going to be an emotional day because her dad Steve won’t be there.
When I got engaged it was a really emotional time,” Bindi shared with New Idea. “And I know that on my wedding day I’ll be emotional because I really wish Dad could be there.”
But rest assured, Bindi is definitely incorporating her dad into her big day.
“He’ll absolutely be involved with the ceremony and the reception,” Bindi continued. “And, gosh, I wish he could physically be there for the day, but I think that he’ll be there in spirit.”
Later on in the interview, Bindi teased starting a family with Chandler one day.
“One day it’d be special to have my own little wildlife warriors,” Bindi added. “I think it’s a way away right now, but if and when it does happen, I can guarantee you they’ll have their own khaki because khaki is not just the colour, it’s an attitude.”

Bindi Irwin and fiance Chandler Powell joined her mom Terri and brother Robert to celebrate their late father’s life and legacy at the annual event.
“Dressing up a little for our Brisbane #SteveIrwinGalaDinner but always keeping a touch of khaki 💛 Tonight we raised funds and awareness for Wildlife Warriors. It’s an honour to be continuing Dad’s legacy with the global conservation work he was so passionate about,” Bindi shared on Instagram.
“Can’t wait for the Steve Irwin Gala tonight here in Brisbane! It’s going to be such a fun night celebrating Dad’s life and legacy and raising funds and awareness for our worldwide wildlife conservation foundation. And for everyone joining us tonight, we’ll see you soon on the red carpet!” Robert wrote on his account.
Robert was also recently awarded the Queensland Tourism Young Achiever Award. Congratulations!!
If you recall, the 21-year-old conservationist revealed that Robert would be the one walking her down the aisle on her wedding day and Robert got the opportunity to share how he felt about it.
“I was really touched when Bindi asked [me], and I think Dad would be so proud of you,” Robert shared on the show. “We all love you so much.”
He added, “You’re achieving so much and it’s gonna be such an honor.”
