The flick takes place in the year 1987 and Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town and centers on Charlie (Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken.
When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.

Hailee Steinfeld looks so chic in her little black dress and lace-up boots while walking the red carpet for the Bumblebee premiere on Monday (December 3) in Berlin, Germany.
The 21-year-old actress and singer was joined at the event by her co-star John Cena and director Travis Knight.
“Ran around Berlin today and talked about a 1967 Volkswagen Beetle that turns into a giant robot. Check it out for yourself in theaters December 21st,” Hailee wrote on Instagram that day.

It looks like we know a detail about Hailee Steinfeld‘s character in Bumblebee that we didn’t know before!
The 20-year-old Oscar-nominated actress was spotted on set filming a diving scene on Friday (July 28) in Los Angeles.
It seems we can assume Hailee‘s character Charlie is a diver!
The movie just started principal photography and the official synopsis was released: “On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.”
The movie will be released during the holiday season in 2018!
Not much is known about the plot itself, but sources tell the mag that it will be a prequel focused on Bumblebee’s (the black and yellow Autobot) life in the 80s.
