And now, the former Scream Queens actress shared another memory of her mom — where they tried and failed to sneak into a Star Wars: The Force Awakens screening. However, they were caught.
“[There was] no chance,” she shared with THR about their attempt, laughing at the story.
In fact, Carrie actually tried to do it before for Billie‘s show, Scream Queens.
“She showed up with mismatched socks and hadn’t brushed her hair,” Billie remembers. “And even then, everyone was like, ‘There’s Carrie Fisher!’”
American Horror Story actress Billie Lourd accepted the Disney Legends Award on behalf of her late mother, Carrie Fisher, Friday. While Billie couldn’t accept the award in-person at the D23 Expo in California, she penned a heartfelt speech.
“As far back as I can remember, my mom and I have been Disney fanatics,” the 24-year-old actress wrote, “I was so obsessed with Ariel that I wanted to change my name. We went to Disneyland so much that I now realize she might have even loved it more than I did.”
She went on to address how much the award would have meant to her mom, E! News reports.
“Becoming part of the Disney family was truly an amazing moment for her,” she continued, “She secretly always wanted to be a Disney princess, so getting to be a Disney princess and a Disney legend would have been her ultimate dream. I wish I could be there to accept this award on her behalf, but unfortunately, I am currently working on American Horror Story. I am beyond grateful to Mr. Iger and everyone at Disney for this incredible honor. Thank you again, and may the force be with you always.”
Billie Lourd stepped out to speak about her late mom Carrie Fisher for the first time since her December 2016 death.
The 24-year-old actress hit the stage at a Star Wars celebration on Thursday (April 12) in Orlando, Florida.
“My mom used to say she never knew where Princess Leia ended and Carrie Fisher began,” Billie told the crowd (via People) while introducing a tribute video. “She was imperfect in many ways but her imperfections and willingness to speak about them are what made her more than perfect. My mom, like Leia, wasn’t ever afraid to speak her mind and say things that might have made most people uncomfortable.”
She added, “She taught me by her own example, that the most evolved person is seemingly a contradiction – they are both the strongest and the most vulnerable person in the room. And that was her. That is Leia.”
Billie donned a white custom-made Tom Ford dress inspired by Princess Leia.
The next day, Billie took to Instagram to share a cute throwback picture with her late mom Carrie Fisher.
Billie lost both her mother and grandmother Debbie Reynolds within two days of each other back in December. Since then, Billie‘s been leaning on Taylor.
The 24-year-old Scream Queens actress shared a sweet throwback photo of herself with her mom on Instagram.
“If my life weren’t funny then it would just be true and that is unacceptable” -Carrie Fisher. Finding the funny might take a while but I learned from the best and her voice will forever be in my head and in my heart,” Billie captioned the below photo on Instagram.
Billie Lourd has had her rumored boyfriend, Scream Queens co-star Taylor Lautner, by her side for the past two weeks and he was there for emotional support at the funeral for her mom Carrie Fisher and grandmother Debbie Reynolds.
The 24-year-old actress and her on-and-off-screen love joined other family members for the burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Friday morning (January 6) in Los Angeles.
We will not be posting photos of the family in mourning out of respect for those grieving.
Billie gave a speech at the private memorial service held at the family compound on Thursday. Meryl Streep gave a performance of her friend Carrie‘s favorite song “Happy Days Are Here Again” and many other celebs were there to pay their respects.
