Ed Sheeran has announced some very exciting news – he is engaged to Cherry Seaborn!

The 26-year-old singer has known Cherry for most of his life and they fell in love over a year ago.

Ed announced the happy news on Instagram, saying, “Got myself a fianc� just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx.”

Ed has mentioned that this was the first time he got to fall in love properly.

“This has been the first time I’ve ever actually had the time to fall in love properly,” he told Zane Lowe on Beats 1 last year. “I’ve always got into relationships very passionately – I’m a redhead and also Irish.”

Congrats to the happy couple!

Ed Sheeran is not only a dreamy singer and songwriter, but he’s proving that he’s a great boyfriend too.

Speaking with ET earlier this month, the “Perfect” musician revealed that he gifted his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn with art lessons for Christmas.

“I got her art lessons,” Ed shared. “She wanted to learn how to draw, so I got her art lessons.”

But don’t worry, Ed didn’t spoil anything — because the gift had to be scheduled.

“She knows this, because we had to work out a day. So she knows.”

We love that Ed listened to what Cherry was wanting and got it for her! So sweet.

Ed Sheeran shares a laugh with his longtime girlfriend Cherry Seaborn as they try to keep a low profile on Sunday evening (November 26) in London, England.

The 26-year-old hit-maker and his love were making their way out of Rum Kitchen in Notting Hill after treating themselves to a night out.

Earlier that same evening, Ed hit the stage on the X Factor UK during the live shows to deliver a stunning rendition of his latest single “Perfect” as the special musical guest – Catch the performance below!

Ed Sheeran looks handsome on the red carpet at the 2017 NRJ Music Awards on Saturday (November 4) in Cannes, France.

The 26-year-old singer was nominated for a few awards at the ceremony, including “International Song of the Year,” “Clip of the Year,” and “International Male Artist of the Year.” And he took them all home!!

Also seen leaving his hotel during the awards ceremony, was nominee The Weeknd. He was nominated for many awards that night, but unfortunately only took home the Honor Award.

Ed and his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn were seen later in the night heading to an after party to celebrate.

“The first time I’ve ever won 3 awards in one night ever, and it was in France for NRJ. So happy. Off for a kebab now, woofington mc woof woof,” Ed wrote on Instagram.

Earlier this morning, the internet found out that Ed Sheeran not only struggled with a drinking problem, but also a substance abuse addiction before releasing his newest album, Divide.

During his chat on The Jonathan Ross Show, the “Supermarket Flowers” singer revealed that girlfriend Cherry Seaborn was helping him through it all.

“We live together now, and I think that was a real help grounding me,” Ed shared. “I was a 25-year-old in the music industry on tour, so I just needed someone to balance me out.”

Cherry was by his side through it all and Ed actually wrote his song “Perfect” about her.

Ed Sheeran played at the 2017 Glastonbury Festival this weekend and he took to Twitter to defend his performance after he was accused of not singing live.

The 26-year-old entertainer, who is pictured here on Sunday (June 25) while catching a helicopter ride to the festival with girlfriend Cherry Seaborn, was the headliner that night.

“Never thought I’d have to explain it, but everything I do in my live show is live, it’s a loop station, not a backing track. Please google,” Ed tweeted. “Anyway, great night, great atmosphere, family, friends, fun. Love you all x.”

Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn‘s first date could be your worst nightmare ever…but for them, it wasn’t at all.

“The first date I went on with her, I played a trick on her because I just wanted to see how she reacted,” Ed admitted, revealing the mean trick that happened.

“It was Jonathon Dickin’s birthday party in New York and we had been to dinner before and I said ‘Oh it’s my friend’s birthday party’ and I just wanted to see how she reacted and we arrived there and I left her in the corner for like five hours.”

FIVE HOURS?! It’s such a good thing that Cherry didn’t walk out and leave him.

“Five hours later, I found her just yammering away with someone having a really good time, and no sort of like ‘Where have you been?’ ‘Why haven’t you been talking to me?’ I was like we need to go and she was like, ‘No, I’m having fun.’ I was like ‘perfect you’re in.’”

Ed adds, “She’s just – she’s great. The reason why my relationship has been so great is no one really knows that much about her. That’s probably what I want to say on it. But I am really happy, really comfortable, never been more inspired.”
