Chris Colfer reads an excerpt from his book “The Land of Stories: A Treasury of Classic Fairy Tales” while attending his “In Conoverstation” panel at Entertainment Weekly’s 2016 PopFest on Sunday (October 30) in Los Angeles.
The 26-year-old actor and author was interviewed by actress Amanda Peet.
During the panel, Chris talked about his new book “Stranger Than Fanfiction” which is “about these four kids and they’ve just graduated high school and they’ve spent their whole lives being obsessed with this television show. It’s about these four friends and they decide to go on a road trip to spend the last few days they have together and really celebrate their friendship before they go off to school and as a joke they invite the actor from the television show. He shows up the next day ready to go on the road trip and he instantly is the world’s worst Mary Poppins. He gets them drunk, he gets them stoned, he’s using bad words,” he told EW.
Chris also discussed the connection between the book and his time on Glee.
“It’s not an autobiography by any means, but it’s definitely based on a lot of things that I went through being on a television show… the experiences that I went through being a part of this huge, huge phenomenon were so unique, I thought it’d be a really interesting voice to add to the YA world.”
Chris Colfer spends a day off at the happiest place on Earth – Disneyland – with pal Ashley Fink on Wednesday (August 17) in Anaheim, Calif.
“Always and forever, the happiest place on earth. I love you @Disneyland!” the 26-year-old actor and author shared on Instagram from his visit.
In a recent interview, Chris opened up about his political views and how they’d changed.
“Being a child in the ’90s, I grew up in a very conservative household. All of my family were Republican – they’re still Republican. Our dinner table arguments should be filmed, because they’re so hysterical,” he shared.
Chris added, “She [Hillary] was constantly on the news for being ambitious. I remember even as a kid people were labeling her as, ‘How dare this first lady be ambitious?’ like it was a negative quality. And I remember seeing how many times she was publicly told, ‘No, you can’t do that. No, no, no.’ And she always said, “Yes, andYes, and’ I remember as a kid secretly looking up to her. I think she’s quite extraordinary.”
