Colton Haynes Once Again Leaves 'Arrow' Ahead of Final Season

Colton Haynes is exiting Arrow once again.

The 31-year-old actor, who has played Roy Harper, aka Arsenal, in the long running series, will be leaving the show ahead of the final season, Green Arrow TV reports.

The site is reporting that Colton has lost his “series regular” gig.

“We hope to have him back,” showrunner Beth Schwartz shared about Colton‘s exit. “We love him and he’s obviously one of the foundations of the show.”

Colton first left the show after season four, but returned at the end of season six, and was upped to a series regular in season seven.

UPDATE! Colton addressed his leaving Arrow on Twitter, saying that he was asked not to come back as a series regular. However, that doesn’t mean Roy is gone forever.

Stephen Amell, Colton Haynes and David Ramsey – aka Oliver Queen, Roy Harper and John Diggle – all took to Twitter to react to the news.

“Playing Oliver Queen has been the greatest professional experience of my life… but you can’t be a vigilante forever,” Stephen started, announcing that the end was near. “Arrow will return for a final run of 10 episodes this Fall.”

He added, “There’s so much to say… for now I just want to say thank you.”

Colton shared on his own account, “Sad to say that #Arrow will be coming to an end after a 10 episode Season 8. Thank you to all the fans who’ve watched. It’s been such a blessing to be a part of this incredible show ❤️ What a beautiful journey.”

We’re excited about crafting a conclusion that honors the show, its characters and its legacy and are grateful to all the writers, producers, actors, and — more importantly — the incredible crew that has sustained us and the show for over seven years.”

Star Stephen Amell tweeted, “Playing Oliver Queen has been the greatest professional experience of my life… but you can’t be a vigilante forever…There’s so much to say… for now I just want to say thank you.”
