Cory Monteith & Lea Michele Were Reportedly 'Close' to Getting Married

After Cory Monteith‘s tragic death on July 13 from an accidental overdose, rumors started swirling that he and his longtime co-star girlfriend Lea Michele were engaged.

While there wasn’t a ring, according to People, the 31-year-old actor and his 26-year-old love were “closer than ever to tying the knot.”

A source told the mag that they had been discussing marriage and were planning to walk down the aisle.

Earlier in the week, Lea released a statement, saying that she was “deeply grateful for all the love and support.”

Lea and Cory‘s family attended a private viewing ceremony before his body was cremated on Tuesday (July 16) in Vancouver, Canada.

Dianna continued, “We really cut our teeth and grew up on this show. In playing underdogs, we learned that we had dug into the hearts of our viewers and that we could stay there. Cory is so deserving of that place in everyone’s hearts. He was one of the most generous and kind people that I have ever met. He had a smart, curious mind, he was an enormous talent. He was loving to not only me, but my family.”

Glee is getting two more newbies.

According to E! News, the show is looking to welcome two new members after tragically losing star Cory Monteith to an accidental overdose on July 13.

Sources tell the site that the network is waiting a few more days to discuss how they’ll handle his absence from the show.

The two new roles include a “cute and quirky” twentysomething named Jenny and a new African-American student at McKinley High School.

These characters are seemingly in addition to the three new roles they were already seeking out. It was recently announced that production could be delayed until November.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, we found out that some castmembers would not be returning, while others were bumped up to series regulars.

According to the British Columbia Coroner’s Office (via TVLine), the 31-year-old actor died from “mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol.”

Cory was found dead on Saturday (July 13) when he failed to check out of his hotel.

Cory had struggled with drug use in the past, and checked himself into rehab earlier this year.

Glee fans may have to wait a bit longer to see Season 5 of the hit Fox show.

In light of Cory Monteith’s passing, NY Daily News reports that the network may be pushing the premiere until November, 2 months after it’s original airdate in September.

According to sources, there would be a delay in “production for about a month, to let everyone breathe.”

The new season, which would’ve put Cory‘s character Finn back at William McKinley High School as the Glee Club’s co-advisor and heading towards a teaching degree at the University of Lima, was set to premiere in September ahead of postseason Major League Baseball coverage.
