Danielle Panabaker Hopes To Inspire Other Actresses To Step Behind The Camera & Direct

Danielle Panabaker links arms with a friend while leaving dinner at Craig’s restaurant in Los Angeles on Saturday night (May 11).

Just recently, the 31-year-old Flash actress opened up about her directorial debut and how she hopes to inspire other women to step behind the camera.

“Since the announcement was made that I was directing, I’ve really been impressed by the number of women who have reached out to me and said, ‘I’m interested in directing. How did you do it?’” Danielle shared with ET.

She adds, “Being able to sort of pay it forward and support them in that – it’s been great. It’s been something that I wasn’t expecting at all.”

Here’s hoping that other CW actresses will be directing too – because Danielle is the first!

Danielle Panabaker Has Some Ideas For a 'Sky High' Sequel

Danielle Panabaker Has Some Ideas For a 'Sky High' Sequel

There’s been so much talk about a possible Sky High sequel and we’d be so excited if there was one coming – as would Danielle Panabaker.

Talking with IBT recently, the -year-old actress opened up about her own ideas for the movie, if it should happen.

“I’d like to think that maybe they’re teachers at Sky High because it’s been long enough that they could go back and teach,” Danielle shared. “They could be the young, cool, hip teachers…and then they’re teaching the next class of superheroes.”

She also opened up about keeping in touch with the cast over the years.

“I just saw Nick [Braun] and Michael [Angarano, who played Will] at a party in LA…and I love those boys so much,” she adds. “I would see Mary Elizabeth [Winstead, who played Gwen Grayson / Royal Pain] when we were both working in Vancouver. I think it would be great, and I think we would all jump at the opportunity.”

Danielle Panabaker Opens Up About How She Prepared To Direct 'The Flash'

Danielle Panabaker Opens Up About How She Prepared To Direct 'The Flash'

Tonight’s the night – Danielle Panabaker‘s directorial debut on The Flash!

While chatting with TV Guide, the -year-old actress opened up about stepping behind the camera and how she prepared to direct and pull double duty as an actress.

The biggest hurdle for her personally was having to direct herself!

“I did not enjoy it, which is something you don’t know until you try it,” Danielle shared. “It’s these big cortex scenes with everybody in them, so it was certainly a challenge to try and set everything up because we’re working with three cameras and to not be able to sit behind the monitors and sit and watch to make sure we were getting things.”

She continues, “So, I was trying to pay attention while I’m in the scene and also trying not to forget my lines. It was certainly a challenge, but I made it through.”

As for how she prepared, Danielle shared that she “asked for advice from every director I ran into for a year.”

“Ever since I knew I’d be directing an episode, I was like, ‘What are your tips? What do I do? How do I succeed?’ I’ve been very lucky in my career — obviously over the past few years, I’ve been incredibly supported by my Flash family and everyone who works there as I’ve tried to learn and understand more,” she says.

Danielle adds, “One of the first things I ever did was a miniseries for HBO, and I remember the director of that miniseries, Fred Schepisi, allowed me to watch him edit. He was watching dailies, and that was a wildly informative experience for me, because as an actor you’re sometimes so focused on your own performance that it’s sometimes hard to see the impact of what you’re doing in a larger sense. So I’ll never forget watching him edit, and it’s certainly changed and shaped me as an actor.”

The Flash airs Tuesdays on The CW.
