'Legacies' Cast Talks What's Coming in Season Two of the Show at Comic-Con 2019

'Legacies' Cast Talks What's Coming in Season Two of the Show at Comic-Con 2019

The ladies of Legacies look so fierce in this pic from their signing event during 2019 Comic-Con over the weekend in San Diego, Calif.

Danielle Rose Russell, Jenny Boyd, and Kaylee Bryant joined co-stars Matt Davis, Aria Shahghasemi, Quincy Fouse and Peyton Alex Smith for the meet and greet with their fans after a panel moderated by Candice King.

In an interview with TVLine, Jenny, Danielle and Kaylee all opened up about what’s ahead for their characters in season two.

For Lizzie and Josie, Kaylee and Jenny opened up about the merge.

“I really don’t think Josie’s in a place where she would fight back,” Kaylee says. “She’d let her win.” Jenny, though, is convinced that it would be a close battle.

Danielle also chatted about a world without Hope: “It’s definitely a change of pace…it gives these guys a little bit of freedom to explore different situations and dynamics now, because it’s justified. Last year, certain things wouldn’t have been justified, but now we get to experiment a little bit — until Hope is remembered and all hell breaks loose.”

Danielle Rose Russell & Matthew Davis Share Their Wishes For 'Legacies' Season 2

Danielle Rose Russell & Matthew Davis Share Their Wishes For 'Legacies' Season 2

The stars of Legacies are dishing on what they hope for out of the show’s second season!

Danielle Rose Russell shared that she wishes for a relationship between Hope and Josie, if the story line can work it in.

“I think that it’s really cool to have a female protagonist of a show be sexually fluid, and I think that’s, you know, something that I’m really proud to represent as well,” she told TV Guide. “If it ever made sense in the storyline, I would be so happy to do it… but if the story didn’t really permit for it, I don’t think that I’d really be for it.”

Matthew Davis is also hoping for some love for Alaric and it’s at the top of his wish list. He would also love to have Caroline Forbes aka Candice King return!

“I would love for her to come by,” he said. “Candice [is] a mom, and she’s enjoying her life right now. She’s always welcome to come through if that’s what she wants to do because Caroline would be a welcome addition to our storyline.”

“I think that season two will definitely explore Hope’s absence in this world and the impact that she does have,” Danielle said. “I’d really love to explore her darker side a bit after jumping into Malivore. I’m sure it’s taken some sort of effect on her mental psyche.”

“I’d really like to see how Hope handles situations, traumatic situations, more on-screen,” she added. “Because after the death of her parents, we kind of did a time jump, and we didn’t really see that process, and I’d love to see that process explored a little bit more. And I’d also love to see the impact that it has on Hope and Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) because she did it for them, so it’s kind of a beautiful and tragic dynamic that I’m really excited to see more of next year.”

'Legacies': How Will Hope's Season 1 Fate Affect Season 2?

'Legacies': How Will Hope's Season 1 Fate Affect Season 2?

[Spoiler Alert: If you haven't watched the season one finale of Legacies, continue reading at your own risk!]

After Hope’s (Danielle Rose Russell) season one finale twist in Legacies, what can we expect going forward in season two?

Director and writer Julie Plec recently spilled all to TV Guide:

On whether or not all traces of Hope are really gone: “There is hope, and there is an actual pitch for that, so your brain is in the right place, creatively.”

On whether Malivore is dead now or she just prevented him from rising: “That is the question, I think, that we’re left with at the end of the season, which is — technically if she had destroyed him, would she be destroyed in the process? Maybe not. So the fact that no one remembers her might mean that there’s still a blackness out there that is keeping her captive. And since we’ve already seen a glimpse of how s–ty that is, I hope that’s not the case.”

On Hope’s affect on the lives of everyone else: “That’s exactly what we can expect to see. What’s fun about it, and sad about it, is we’ll be able to realize just how much impact Hope had in these people’s lives without them even realizing what they’re missing. And just understanding that they all feel individually like there’s something that doesn’t feel right and that they’re struggling with this feeling of not being complete somehow. It just feels like such a universal experience, especially for teenagers. I’m looking forward to having each of those characters act out on that feeling.”

Season one of Legacies will be streaming on Netflix starting April 5.

Danielle Rose Russell cuddles with an adorable pup on the cover of Grumpy Magazine‘s new issue.

The 19-year-old Legacies actress opened up in the glossy about how she was introduced to the business, her relationship with her cast and what she hopes is in store for Hope Mikaelson on the CW series.

Danielle revealed that exploring Hope’s journey of finding herself and finding happiness in the world that she is living in is something she’s passionate about.

“I’d love to see Hope in more normal circumstances,” she shared. “I’d love to see her happy for a minute, because as hilarious as that sounds, I’d love to continue to play romantic Hope and continue to watch her grow into a young woman, because she is seventeen, making mistakes and learning a lot about life and about herself.”
