6 DC Actors Are Confirmed to Reprise Their Roles In the New DCU, Co-CEO James Gunn Confirms

6 DC Actors Are Confirmed to Reprise Their Roles In the New DCU, Co-CEO James Gunn Confirms

There has been talk of who would still be in the DC Universe after the regime change.

Once James Gunn and Peter Safran took over and unveiled their plans, there was some crossover of what the old DCEU was in terms of characters.

While there has been talk of which ones would in fact be transferring from the old DCEU to the new DCU, James has recently confirmed that there are in fact, at least four that will be back.

There has also been a little confusion on what marks the beginning of the new DCU. James previously said his new Superman: Legacy movie would be the first, but the actual first project will be the upcoming animated series Creature Commandos, which James shared will be a bit of an appetizer to the DCU.

“Nothing is canon until Creature Commandos next year – a sort of aperitif to the DCU – & then a deeper dive into the universe with Superman: Legacy after that. It’s a very human drive to want to understand everything all the time, but I think its okay to be confused on what’s happening in the DCU since no one has seen anything from the DCU yet,” he wrote on Threads.

Now, you may be wondering who is confirmed to return to the DCU, and we’ve got you covered. There are six actors confirmed to be reprising their roles, so far.

DCU 'Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters' - Every Project Announced for First Phase of New DC Studios

DC Studios is working on their own new, interconnected universe!

After assigning James Gunn and Peter Safran as Co-CEOS of the studio, they have announced the DCU (DC Universe) and all of the projects that are currently in the works.

The beginning of the new DCU will be called Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters, and will kickoff with 10 new projects, with most of them featuring new talent in the roles, aside from an upcoming Peacemaker spinoff. This is NOT all of the projects in the first chapter, just a part of it.

Upcoming projects like Blue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom are not apart of the new DCU, but are still being released, with the actors/characters potentially reprising their roles in future projects in the DCU.

The Batman 2 and Joker: Folie à Deux are still in the works, but these, as well as Teen Ttitans Go, will fall outside of the DCU, and be part of what is being called DC Elseworlds, a separate banner under DC Studios.

“It’s not the Gunnverse, it’s not,” James assured, via THR. “It’s got to be all these different feels from all these different stories. That’s what makes it so fun. The stories are completely different and each has the individual expression of the writers and the director that are making those projects.”
