There’s a TikTok video from earlier this year suggesting that maybe Dove Cameron had a dance double in the first Descendants movie.
The video points out a few instances in the musical’s opening number “Rotten to the Core” where her character Mal is dancing, but it doesn’t look like Dove is the one doing the dance under the purple wig.

Kylie Cantrall is dishing on her upcoming movie musical Descendants: The Rise of Red!
The 18-year-old actress and singer opened up earlier this summer about the new film, where she stars as the titular character Red.
Red is described as “the rebellious 16-year-old daughter of the Queen of Hearts (Rita Ora). Red knows she’ll never get the Queen’s approval, so she finds ways to provoke her mother and stir up trouble.”
In the music and dance movie, polar opposites Red and Chloe cross paths at a momentous celebration in Auradon when unexpected chaos breaks out. In order to prevent an impending coup, they must join forces to travel back in time, via a magical pocket watch created by the Mad Hatter’s son, to stop an event that would lead to grave consequences.

A fourth Descendants movie is in the works and we have all the details!
The upcoming new movie, Descendants: The Rise of Red, will be set in the world of Auradon as the original trilogy, but will feature an almost entirely new cast of characters.
Previously titled The Pocketwatch, the music and dance-filled movie finds polar opposites Red and Chloe crossing paths at a momentous celebration in Auradon when unexpected chaos breaks out. In order to prevent an impending coup, they must join forces to travel back in time, via a magical pocket watch created by the Mad Hatter’s son, to stop an event that would lead to grave consequences.
Filming for the musical took place in Atlanta earlier this year, and features many familiar faces from the Disney family, and even sees a couple of stars reprising their roles from over 15 years ago.
Jennifer Phang is directing and co-executive producing, with a script by Dan Frey and Russell Sommer. Production designer on all three OG movies, Mark Hofeling, returns to the franchise, with Suzanne Todd and former Disney Channel President Gary Marsh executive producing.

The upcoming fourth Descendants movie, tentatively titled The Pocketwatch is going back in time!
It was just announced that several young actors have been cast to portray teen versions of Disney characters and some of the parents from the Descendants movies.
Eight new actors join the already stacked cast, which includes Brandy and Rita Ora, as well as Disney stars Kylie Cantrall, Dara Renee and China Anne McClain, among others.
The new additions to the cast are students at Merlin Academy, which came before Auradon Prep. They are also classmates of a young Cinderella and a young Queen of Hearts.
Filming is currently underway in Atlanta.
