The young actor, who is no stranger to the entertainment world as he comes from a very talented family, stars as Bobby Cañero-Reed in the show, the older brother to Tess Romero‘s Elena.
JJJ recently got to know Charlie with some fun facts, including his favorite TV show, which is the reason why he got into acting, and even that his middle name was named after a legendary musician!

The young actress plays Sasha on the new show, who is the best friend to Tess Romero‘s Elena.
Carmina spoke to JJJ about working with executive producer Gina Rodriguez, who also directed the first episode, and co-stars in a few episodes.
“When I showed up to begin filming the first episode on Diary, (Gina was directing) of course I didn’t know what to expect,” Carmina told us. “I quickly learned that with Gina, I was in good hands. She is brilliant, super nice and so inspiring. Gina has such a way about her that I felt so welcome on this brand new set. Watching her work, I am so inspired to just be a better actress and try to excel in whatever I do.”
“The whole cast and crew of DOFP was so fun!! Especially on our Themed dress up days!! We had Onesie Day and Dapper Day and Hawaiian Theme special dress days (to name a few!),” she said about fun behind-the-scenes moments. “The fun thing was seeing how creative everyone got! I always looked forward to those days!”

JJJ spoke with Jessica about her hit Netflix show, as well as her part in the new Disney+ show, where she got to work with one of her heroes, Gina Rodriguez. We also got the scoop on her red carpet looks and more.
“I have admired Gina’s career so much that I didn’t think working with her was on the realm of possibilities,” Jessica told us. “It still baffles me to think she directed me in an episode.”

Tess Romero and Gina Rodriguez snap a fun photo together at the premiere of their new series Diary of a Future President held at Arclight Cinemas on Tuesday (January 14) in Hollywood.
The two ladies play the younger and older version of the main character, Elena. Gina also serves as an executive producer.
The upcoming Disney+ series is “told from the narration of her diary, follows 12-year-old Cuban-American Elena (Romero) as she navigates the ups and downs of middle school and begins her journey to become the future president of the United States. Unabashed, semi-dweeby, ultra-observant and with a strong point of view, she walks through the world with purpose and confidence.”

Charlie will play Bobby, Elena’s “sweet-faced but mischievous older brother.” Selenis will play Gabi, their “intelligent and loving mom.” Michael will portray Sam, “a lawyer at Gabi’s firm who is in the beginnings of a relationship with her.”
Gina, meanwhile, will recur as the adult version of Elena, currently on the campaign trail.
“I established my production company as a vehicle to tell stories for and by the underrepresented,” Gina Rodriguez said. “Bringing this story to Disney+ is a dream come true not to mention hope for our future.”
The 10-episoide Diary of a Female President will premiere on Disney’s streaming service in 2020! Production is currently kicking off.
