grown-ish returns for it’s fifth season TONIGHT (July 20) on Freeform!
While the hit comedy and black-ish spinoff is back, not all of the show’s stars will be returning for the new season.
If you recall, at the end of season four, which featured most of the characters graduating, a lot of them were heading off on their different life paths.
Now, the new season is bringing in Marcus Scribner‘s Junior as he begins his college journey at Cal U.
While much of the cast is not coming back, some are.

In the upcoming season, Zoey (Yara Shahidi) and the gang enjoy life post-graduation while Junior (Marcus Scribner) and a new crew steps in to Cal U.
The trailer introduces fans to quite a few new faces and characters, and also brings back some familiar faces like Francia Raisa as Ana, Jordan Buhat as Vivek and Emily Arlook as Nomi. Francia and Jordan can even be seen holding hands in the trailer, so it looks like Ana and Vivek’s romance has heated up.

The season four finale of grown-ish aired last night and we have to say goodbye to some of the cast!
Freeform‘s hit comedy and black-ish spinoff saw most of it’s cast graduate from Cal U after four years.
Earlier this month it was revealed that the show was renewed for a fifth season and that Marcus Scribner will be joining the cast.
At the end of the finale last night (March 24), we got a teaser of Marcus joining the cast.
With a new season coming and the characters graduating college, and seeing their journeys in the season four finale, we now know that we’re saying goodbye to some of them.
“[They] will always be a part of the -ish’ family. This new season isn’t a goodbye, we are just expanding the world; there will always be an open door for them to return,” showrunners Zakiyyah Alexander and Courtney Lilly toldTVLine. “For Season 5, we’re excited to dive deeper into the storylines of [...] in their post-grad adventures and welcome a new dynamic class to Cal-U, including Junior (Scribner).”
