The two called it quits a few months ago, however, are just publicly addressing it now.
In a statement, Jake revealed that he and Erika tried “our best to work it out and find a solution. After many discussions and some serious soul searching, it became apparent to us weeks ago, that we could no longer be boyfriend and girlfriend.”
He added praises of Erika before asking for privacy regarding the split.
Jake made a grand gesture to ask Erika to be his girlfriend earlier this year.

The 22-year-old YouTuber is at the center of Shane Dawson‘s latest documentary series, which questions if Jake is a “sociopath”, an outdated term to described a personality disorder.
“I guess the only thing im concerned about is that you still haven’t made it clear that you’re DETERMINING wether [sic] or not I am a sociopath…,” Jake wrote to Shane about the latest video in the series. “The way it comes off (at least to me & my family) is that you’re already labeling me a “sociopath” (this tweet also comes off that way).”
He added later, “I love Shane & am trusting him 2 carry out the rest of the series..I hope he can actually make it clear WHO I AM & WHY I’ve done certain things & SHOW the side of me that no one has ever seen.. That’s why I agreed to do the series.. the ‘sociopath’ STUFF doesn’t interest me.”

The actor and YouTube personality released the visual on Thursday (May 24).

Jake Paul is all smiles while making his way through the airport on Monday (April 30) in Los Angeles.
The 21-year-old YouTuber was joined by his girlfriend Erika Costell as they made their way to catch their flight.
Just last week, Jake asked Erika to be his girlfriend in a super cute way at a basketball game.
Jake is currently preparing for a boxing match in a couple of months. He will be going up against fellow YouTuber Deji Olatunji.
“I’m going to knock deji out in the second round. The first round will be me messing with him and embarrassing him. If there was just one round the fans would be let down,” he wrote on Twitter about his match.
During the Miami Heat v Philadelphia 76ers basketball game earlier this week, the 21-year-old digital influencer actually asked Erika, 24, to be his girlfriend – and caught it on camera.
Last year, Jake revealed that his “marriage” to Erika was fake.
“It’s like the WWE. People know that’s fake and it’s one of the biggest things of entertainment,” he said at the time.
However, Jake actually did develop feelings for Erika after that.
“I like her, she likes me…she’s just like a homie,” Jake shared in another interview. She makes me laugh and I can be myself around her. She’s really attractive too.”
