Jonathan Groff takes his opening night bow during the first performance of A New Brain on Wednesday (June 24) at City Center in New York City.
The 30-year-old Frozen voice actor was joined at an after party following the show by his Looking co-star Frankie J. Alvarez. In the musical, he is joined by an all-star cast, including Ana Gasteyer and Dan Fogler, in the revival of the 1998 musical based on the life of Tony Award winner William Finn.

After struggling composer Gordon Michael Schwinn, played by Jonathan, collapses at the piano, he is diagnosed with a brain tumor and is forced to come to terms with his creative ambitions and the people in his life: an overbearing mother, played by Ana, a ruthless kiddie-show host, played by Dan, and a boyfriend who’d “rather be sailing,” played by Aaron Lazar.
