August Maturo Looks Back On 'Girl Meets World' 5 Year Anniversary

August Maturo is remembering when Girl Meets World first started!

The 11-year-old actor of course starred as Auggie on the Disney Channel series, which premiered five years ago on June 27th, 2014.

“I remember when we first started this show, and no one had seen it yet, and our creator Michael Jacobs (his birthday is tomorrow, btw) told us ‘One day you will all grow up to be big stars, and you will forget all about this show. And maybe one day you’ll open up a drawer and see the DVD’s of ‘Girl’ and you’ll pick them up & remember this time in your life as a happy one, and you’ll know you created something special. Something you can be proud of,’” he said.

“We see all of your posts and messages today about the 5 yr anniversary of #GirlMeetsWorld & what this show meant/means to you guys. We see you and we are grateful. ❤️#5yearsofGirlMeetsWorld,” August added.

Sabrina Carpenter Reflects on 'Girl Meets World': 'It Helped Me Address Issues In My Own Life'

Sabrina Carpenter is making us get all sentimental right now after reading her new interview with Hero magazine.

The 19-year-old singer and actress took a look back at her time on Girl Meets World and opened up about how it made a big impact on her life.

“As I read a lot of the scripts I’d think, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m going through this’, so it also helped me address issues in my own life,” Sabrina shared.

She continued, “Also, the show was based on historical moments because in each episode we would tie in to a time in history when a similar situation happened between people. So, we got to cover bullying, religion, autism, feminism, broken families and broken homes…”

Sabrina also found out through the show that each episode was impacting her fans in an amazing way.

“I can’t tell you how many teenagers came up to me and told me, ‘My mum left when I was seven years old, and you’re the only character on television that I can relate to,’” she remembered. “For me it made a great impact knowing that the stories we were telling were being heard by the people who needed to hear them.”

Corey Fogelmanis Talks His Former 'Girl Meets World' Co-Stars: 'I'm So Happy We Have This Family'

Corey Fogelmanis is currently starring in a new Fullscreen show, Prank Me, in which he plays a dangerous and powerful Youtuber who is pretty much the polar opposite of Farkle Minkus.

Still, despite his career growth, the 18-year-old actor is never going to forget the people he worked with on Girl Meets World.

“I know Sabrina [Carpenter] watched [Prank Me] and I think her mom did too,” Corey shared in a video interview with YSBNow. “She’s so supportive and I’m so happy.”

“I was just talking to Rowan [Blanchard] about this the other day; I’m so happy we have this family,” he continued. “I’m excited to see what we all do in our careers and to support each other.”

Corey has a theory as to why he is so close with his former cast-members.

Girl Meets World was my life for like four years,” he explained. “I think we all entered the business kind of in the same place. We were new to it and we were new to ourselves. We were still figuring everything out. We grew really close because it was all such a learning process for all of us. I’m really happy with the family that came out of the show.”

Aww! Cue all of the nostalgia. We’re so glad Corey, Rowan, and Sabrina have cultivated such a strong and lasting friendship.

August Maturo Predicted How Long 'GMW' Would Run When He Was 6!

August Maturo Predicted How Long 'GMW' Would Run When He Was 6!

We’re pretty sure that Girl Meets World star August Maturo is psychic.

What else could explain the fact that he totally knew the show would last for three seasons?

The 10-year-old posted an unpublished interview to Twitter in honor of his on-screen dad Ben Savage‘s birthday.

In the video, August is only six, and he’s seriously adorable. He says he is “maybe” a better actor than Ben, and then reveals — with absolute certainty — that he is “gonna be ten when the show is gonna be done.”

“I don’t know which year, it’s gonna be like 2017 or something” August continues, adamant.

Ben and Danielle Fishel laugh, but they should have taken him more seriously. The show was cancelled in 2017, when he was ten.

Watch the amazing prediction below!

Rowan Blanchard, Sabrina Carpenter & More React to 'Girl Meets World' Emmy Nomination

Girl Meets World picked up an Emmy nomination last night for “Outstanding Children’s Program,” (its third Emmy nomination in three years) and former cast-members Rowan Blanchard, Sabrina Carpenter, August Maturo, Danielle Fishel, and Peyton Meyer have all taken to social media to express their gratitude.

“So grateful!! Thank you @TheEmmys,” Rowan wrote, “Thank you to the incredible audience and the awesome cast & crew!”

“GMW got its 3rd Emmy nom today,” Sabrina shared, “Thank you to the Academy and of course our incredible audience. @TheEmmys congrats cast+crew!!”

“Very thankful to the Academy and our amazing audience,” Peyton wrote, “Huge congrats cast and crew. 3rd times the charm.” (We hope so, too!)

“So proud #GirlMeetsWorld was nominated for its 3rd #Emmy Grateful to have been part of this special show. Congrats @GMWWriters, cast & crew!” August added.

“3rd time is a charm,” Danielle wrote in a note on Instagram, “Congrats to the hard-working cast and crew of Girl Meets World, especially our writers who tirelessly (and sometimes thanklessly) gave their all every week. Well, except that one week where we all got lazy but otherwise flawless. Let’s go win an Emmy!!”

The show definitely deserves an Emmy for its commitment to telling raw, real stories about friendship, identity, and family that real kids and teens would relate to. Reminisce on its most powerful episodes here.
