Grace VanderWaal Reveals the Story Behind Her Album Title!

Grace VanderWaal just revealed what inspired her to name her debut album Just The Beginning!

The 14-year-old singer says it all had to do with her dad!

“I was really stressing out; I wanted it to be perfect. I was in the car with my dad, and he was like, “What if you name it ‘Just the Beginning?’” I loved it!” Grace explained to Tigerbeat.

She continued, “I think it’s just the beginning, really, of music in my life. I don’t really know what’s going to happen. No one does. But I know I’m going to make music in the future no matter what it is – no matter if it’s a number-one hit on the radio or no one ever hears of it. I know I’m still going to make it. This is just the beginning of my music love and career.”

We totally agree!

Grace VanderWaal Squeals With Excitement About Her First Movie Role in 'Stargirl'

Just last month, it was announced that Grace VanderWaal would be starring in Disney’s upcoming Stargirl.

The film, based on Jerry Spinelli‘s book of the same name, centers on Leo Borlock, who follows the unspoken rule at Mica Area High School: don’t stand out–under any circumstances! Then Stargirl arrives at Mica High and everything changes–for Leo and for the entire school.

After 15 years of home schooling, Stargirl bursts into tenth grade in an explosion of color and a clatter of ukulele music, enchanting the Mica student body.

Grace recently spoke with ET Canada about her first ever acting role.

“I am so excited!” she exclaimed. “I have never auditioned for anything. I did the lines, it was really weird, but it was comfortable once it started rolling.”

Grace added that she was very confident in her audition afterwards, “I was pretty sure that I got it because I felt that she [casting director] really liked me. But I didn’t know, because I’d never auditioned for anything. But [then], I did and I’m so excited about it.”

Grace VanderWaal Talks About Getting Used to Life After 'America's Got Talent'

Grace VanderWaal is looking cool on the cover of Teen Vogue‘s 2018 Music Issue, which is out now.

Here’s what the 14-year-old America’s Got Talent superstar had to say…

On staying true to oneself: “I think everyone’s just trying to be someone else nowadays. The world is so big and there’s so many people and there’s only one you, and that’s so special and unique to think about.”

On adapting to her post-America’s Got Talent life and defining her goals: “At first it was so overwhelming and I had no idea what to do, and now I feel so much better about my life, because, number one, I feel more headstrong about what I want.”

On those who still refer to her as “the girl from America’s Got Talent”: “I mean, if you will forever remember me as the girl from America’s Got Talent, that’s cool, ’cause I am. If you wanna look into me and what I’ve done recently, that’s cool, too. I don’t really care at all, [because] at least you remember me and you’re thinking about me.”
