You know how there’s always that one show that raises eyebrows, turns heads and critics have more than a mountain of questions about it? Last season it was Dads…this year, it’s MTV’s Happyland.
Bianca Alexa Santos and Shane Harper joined their co-stars Camille Guaty, Cameron Moulene, Katherine McNamara and Ryan Rottman for the Happyland panel during the 2014 Summer Television Critics Association held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Friday morning (July 11) in Beverly Hills, Calif., and responded to critics about the implied incest going on in the trailer.
Exec producer Neil Meron chimed in on a strained conversation about it all: “They MIGHT be brother and sister.”
“As Neil said, they may be,” added his producing partner Craig Zadan. “And, they basically kissed. They didn’t make out. Nothing sexual happened.”
Premiering on September 30th, the show follows Lucy (Santos), a cynical employee and daughter to the park’s perfect princess Elena (Guaty). Desperate to escape the park’s brand of manufactured happiness, Lucy rethinks her desire to flee after the arrival of a new staff member�the son (Harper) of Happyland’s new owner�who brings a scandalous secret with him.
