Lizzie McGuire has made it onto the “Trending Topics” list on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon (April 21), but not for a reason you would be hoping for…
The Hilary Duff-starring reboot was scrapped at Disney+ after creative differences between the network and the star caused it to come to a halt.
Now, the show is back in conversation, but it’s not because the reboot is back on, it’s because Hilary has landed a new show, on Hulu!
The 31-year-old actress and new mom of three will be heading back to TV much sooner than anyone would have anticipated. Her current series, Younger, is in the midst of it’s final season on Paramount+, with new episodes also coming out on Hulu.

Hilary Duff just shared some really sad news for Lizzie McGuire fans.
The 33-year-old actress revealed that the reboot of her beloved Disney Channel series is officially no longer happening.
“I’ve been so honored to have the character of Lizzie in my life. She has made such a lasting impact on many, including myself. To see the fans’ loyalty and love for her, to this day, means so much to me,” she wrote on in a note on Instagram.
“I know the efforts and conversations have been everywhere trying to make a reboot work but, sadly & despite everyone’s best efforts, it isn’t going to happen,” she continued. “I want any reboot of Lizzie to be honest and authentic to who Lizzie would be today. It’s what the character deserves. We can all take a moment to mourn the amazing woman she would have been and the adventures we would have taken with her.”
“I’m very sad, but I promise everyone tried their best and the stars just didn’t align. Hey now, this is what 2020s made of,” she ended, referencing the song from The Lizzie McGuire Movie.
Back in July, Hilary shared an update on the reboot, saying they were regrouping to try to work it out. They filmed two episodes, but after creator Terri Minsky left over creative differences, the reboot just started taking a more downhill turn as Hilary, Terri and others wanted it to be a more adult Lizzie.
