Hocus Pocus 2 is out now on Disney+, but we’re taking a look at the original movie, which came out nearly 30 years ago!
There are quite a few fun facts that you may not have known about the original film, which was directed by Kenny Ortega.
Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker of course played the iconic roles of the Sanderson sisters, but there was almost another (now) A-list star who was almost in the movie!

Whitney Peak and Belissa Escobedo meet up at the premiere of their new movie Hocus Pocus 2 held at AMC Lincoln Square Theater on Tuesday evening (September 27) in New York City.
The stars of the movie were of course joined by much of their cast mates, including Froy Gutierrez, who wore a purple ensemble.
Also seen hitting the carpet were original stars Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker, each with their spouses (and Sarah‘s daughters Marion and Tabitha), and Doug Jones, as well as new stars Tony Hale, Sam Richardson, Lilia Buckingham, Nina Kitchen, Taylor Paige Henderson, Juju Journey Brener and more.

The creator of Hocus Pocus is opening up about the upcoming sequel!
David Kirschner, who came up with the original idea and serves as a producer of both movies, recently appeared on The Art of Kindness podcast with Robert Peterpaul, and dished about the Sanderson name origin, the upcoming sequel and the future of Hocus Pocus.

Whitney Peak and Belissa Escobedo watch the Sanderson Sisters in a pharmacy in the new trailer for Hocus Pocus 2!
The trailer was unveiled on Friday afternoon (September 9) at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, Calif.
It helped kick off the Disney and Pixar movie showcase at the annual event.

Hocus Pocus 2 has an exact release date!
The upcoming sequel will be out on Disney+ almost 30 years after the first movie came out.
Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker will also reprise their roles as the Sanderson sisters, Winifred, Mary and Sarah. Also back is Doug Jones as Billy Butcherson.
