The next day, the ladies announced the exact premiere date for their upcoming singing competition series, Little Mix: The Search.
“Weβre so excited to announce that @littlemixthesearch starts September 26th on BBC One and @bbciplayer π. The talent on this show is UNREAL so we canβt wait for you to see it #LittleMixTheSearch,” they wrote on their band’s Instagram account, along with another sneak peek video.
The series centers around up and coming musical acts who will compete to become Little Mixβs opening act on an upcoming tour.
In case you missed it, Leigh-Anne is working on a documentary for BBC about racism and colorism in the UK.
“Travel with us to a spa on Mars. The Holiday video is out now π§ββοΈ. So excited to share this video with you. We LOVE it and hope you do too π,” the girls wrote on Instagram.
“Holiday” was written by Jade, Perrie and Leigh-Anne with Kamille, and was produced by Goldfingers.
The girls then went on to change their name to Little Mix and eventually win the entire competition!
Now, Little Mix has become one of the top selling girl groups of all time, and are celebrating their nine year anniversary.
“Nine years ago today our lives changed forever. Doing what we love every day with each other has been beyond our wildest dreams. Thank you to each and every one of you that’s supported us along the way, we love you more than words β€οΈ #9yearsoflittlemix,” the band wrote on their Instagram page.
Leigh-Anne also shared her own post to celebrate.
“Happy Birthday to US!!! @littlemix 9 years of laughs, tears, incredible times, tough times, achievements, sisterhood, friendship and the most amount of fun you’ll ever imagine! @perrieedwards @jadethirlwall @jesynelson we’ve been through so much but we’ve always stuck together and when it’s all said and done we are sisters for life β€οΈ,” she wrote.
“Our new single Holiday is out now π΄βοΈ We’re so proud of this one… hope it takes you all on a much needed getaway,” they wrote on Instagram.
“The Holiday lyric video is out now π€ being back together (at a safe distance) to shoot this felt SO GOOD. πΉ Get your karaoke on, link in stories βοΈ” they added after the video came out.
“Feels like we’re long overdue a HOLIDAY π§ββοΈβοΈ pre-save link in bio π΄” the wrote on Instagram, along with the single artwork.
Little Mix have been teasing the new track for the last few weeks by sharing photos of each of them on holiday, followed by a little teaser video.
The girls also just shared that their talent competition series, Little Mix The Search, will be premiering later this year, in the fall.
“That’s right, you heard it here first… @littlemixthesearch will be all yours this autumn on BBC One @bbciplayer #LittleMixTheSearch,” they captioned a teaser.
The Little Mix singer called out a news site for using Leigh-Anne‘s photo in an article about her, and said it happens all the time.
“if you’re going to copy and past articles from other accurate media outlets, you might want to make sure you’re using an image of the correct mixed race member of the group,” she wrote on Instagram story.
Jade then added another note about always getting mixed up.
“This sh– happens to @leighannepinnock and I ALL THE TIME that it’s become a running joke. The amount of interviews where we get mixed up, I couldn’t count how many photographers or journalists over the years that have shouted for one of us on set and when we’ve walked over they’ve said ‘oh, you’re Jade?’ and awkwardly brushed it off as it’s a simple mistake when we both really know why,” she said. “I’ve even had ‘Oh sorry, you look similar.’ Really?! I’m done with us just having to laugh it off now…”
“It’s lazy journalism. It’s ignorant. It’s rude. It offends me that you couldn’t differentiate the two women of colour out of four members of a group,” Jade continued. “There’s even images of me in the article followed by an image of Leigh as if they couldn’t tell we’re not the same mixed race person?!?! DO BETTER.”
Leigh-Anne recently teared up while talking about her experiences with racism. See what she said here.
“We were so gutted to have to cancel the official video shoot that ourselves and our team had worked so hard on,” the girls wrote on Instagram.
But the show must go on and the “loved the concept so much that we had to get creative to make sure you could still all see it! Hope you like it as much as we do #LMTV.”
