The next morning, the 24-year-old actor and singer stopped by the Today show to talk about the flick and why he took on the role.
“I think the first thing that stood out to me was the relationship between the brothers, something I can relate to…And it’s just an amazing story about masculinity and what that looks like today,” he explained.
Nick added that he advised his younger brother Frankie to watch the film before he headed off to college this fall, saying, “I said ‘Look, man. Before you decide to pledge a fraternity, I’d like you to see this movie.’ Just as a bit of an educational tool [showing] the worst case scenario.”
Goat is set to hit theaters, on demand, and digital HD on September 23rd.

“I am thrilled to have my name linked with such a Hollywood legend and someone who shepherded all kinds of stories,” James expressed (via Variety). “Nothing was beyond the pale for Schamus � he saw value and entertainment in it all. His work on ‘Wedding Banquet’ to ‘Brokeback Mountain’ to ‘Milk’ changed the landscape for queer cinema and I only hope to make such an impression.”
