The Vamps' James McVey Talks Joining Reality Program 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!'

It’s official – James McVey has official joined UK reality series, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

The 24-year-old Vamps guitarist chatted with The Sun about why he chose to join the show.

“Now is a good time to do the show as it’s coming to the end of the year for The Vamps and we have quite a bit of time off over Christmas,” he shared. “We’ve just finished our new EP so I thought I’d give the jungle a go.”

James did admit that he was a little nervous about heading to the jungle for the show, too.

“I’m a bit nervous about entering the jungle, but I’m looking forward to it as it’s a challenge, it’s going to be good hopefully. I’m scared of spiders, but apart from that it should be fine.”

I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here 2018 will kick off on Sunday, November 18th on ITV.

The Vamps Drop 'Just My Type' Teaser - Listen Now!

The Vamps are giving us life with the sneak peek of their new single, “Just My Type”.

The guys – Brad Simpson, James McVey, Connor Ball and Tristan Evans – posted the teaser on social media this morning, just a few days ahead of the official release on Friday, June 15th.

In a recent interview, The Vamps opened up about expectations for their albums, and how proud they are of their music.

“I think the expectations were high,” Brad says. “The first single did well on Spotify and people realised it was a bit of a departure. To see the music being received so well was quite promising. It meant the rest of the album really followed on from that.”

He added, “It was received with the same kind of open arms that the fans had when we released the first record and that was special. We’d gone away for a year and written songs that were special to us – and, thankfully, they connected with the fans. That means a lot to us.”

Did you know that James McVey started writing a novel?!

The Vamps guitarist and singer opened up recently about the struggles he faced while writing a sci-fi book and why he had to ultimately stop.

“It was stressing me out more than giving me enjoyment,” he told The Sun. “I was struggling with being away a lot so I put it on hold.”

“We struggle to manage stress in life as it is, the small things that are relatively controllable we should try and reduce,” James added. “People assume artists don’t go through things and life is always great, so it’s good to see so many men – I can’t speak on behalf of women – talking about male mental health recently.”

Speaking with the Express & Star recently, Brad opened up about how the band learned to grow up in the spotlight.

“It’s taken a while to get used to being famous,” he shared. “Me and Connor started the band when we were 15. It’s not just been about The Vamps. Part of the whole thing has been about learning to grow up.”

Brad adds, “It’s been about that as much as it’s been about getting used to being in a band. We’ve had to have time to grow up as people. But everything becomes easier as you get older because you grow more used to it. We’re more comfortable now than we were before, though it took time to change.”
