The 30-year-old Sweet Magnolias and Zoey 101 actress took to her Instagram story on Monday (June 28) to share a video message to fans after many have criticized her for not speaking out.
Jamie Lynn Spears has been given a promotion for the upcoming second season of Sweet Magnolias!
The 30-year-old actress and singer will be a series regular for the new season on Netflix, Deadline reveals.
Also being upped to series regulars are Dion Johnstone (Erik Whitley) and Brandon Quinn (Ronnie Sullivan).
Jamie Lynn plays Noreen Fitzgibbons on the show, who is “the pregnant former mistress of Bill Townsend (Chris Klein), Maddie’s (Joanna Garcia Swisher) now ex-husband.”
Via Deadline, Noreen’s “friendship with Kyle Townsend (Logan Allen), Maddie’s son, was pivotal in Season 1, and her sudden departure from Serenity disrupted multiple lives. She appeared in 10 episodes in Season 1.”
Sweet Magnolias is based on the popular book series and follows lifelong best friends Maddie, Helen (Heather Headley), and Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott) as they juggle relationships, family and careers in the charming small town of Serenity, SC.
Season two is currently underway, and it will premiere in 2022.
Fans have been clamoring for a reboot for a while, especially after the cast reunited for a skit on All That.
Just last week, Jamie Lynn gathered some of her co-stars once again for the music video for the reimagined theme song, “Follow Me (Zoey 101)”!
Now, she says that doing the video, answered some reboot questions for them, and the reboot could happen even faster now.
“I’m already in conversations with everyone about the reboot, as far as actually making it happen with the networks and stuff,” Jamie Lynn told ET Canada. “Truthfully, this video answered a lot of our creative questions, so, I just think the reboot is going to happen even faster now.”
Unfortunately, Victoria Justice wasn’t able to be apart of the video, but she did get a little shoutout!
Jamie Lynn just opened up on On Air with Ryan Seacrest about the Zoey 101 reboot and how the music video came about.
“2020 was a crazy year. We’d been focusing on the reboot and giving it to the fans, at the beginning of the year,” she told Ryan Seacrest. Then with everything that happened, we were like, well, let’s figure out a way that we can safely give them something. We figured, why don’t we give them a song, give them something to finish 2020 out on a better note, and look forward to the reboot in 2021.”
I think that we’re just kind of taking a lemon and making lemonade, and have fun with, and just engage with the fans. Really, that was the main intent of the whole idea,” Jamie Lynn added.
