Gina Rodriguez stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday (April 17) and opened up about her hit show Jane the Virgin coming to an end.

“We’re shooting the finale as we speak. I shot this morning and last night until about midnight,” the 34-year-old actress revealed. “I feel like during our last table read, it started to hit us.”

“Everybody’s balling and then it was like game time, had to like keep putting out great work. I feel like it’s going to hit me maybe after we wrap,” Gina continued. “I’m very very blessed, I have an incredible cast and we all love each other. We’re going to work together again, hopefully, and definitely stay in touch. It doesn’t feel like goodbye.”

“God wiling, ABC will pick up the spin-off!,” Gina said.

Gina also talked about her new movie Someone Great, being rebellious in high school, and gushed about her fiance Joe LoCicero.

Xo (Andrea Navedo) gets her dance on with Mateo (Elias Janssen) in this cute still from tonight’s new Jane the Virgin.

In “Chapter Eighty-Five”, after talking to everyone else about what is going on in her life, Jane (Gina Rodriguez) turns to Petra (Yael Grobglas), who she knows will give her a straight answer. In return, Petra leans on Jane for advice about JR (Rosario Dawson).

Xo is determined to be at grandparents’ day for Mateo but still has one more chemo treatment. Meanwhile, Alba (Ivonne Coll) is getting mixed messages from Jorge (Alfonso DiLuca) about their relationship.

In tonight’s all new Jane The Virgin, Jane has get over the newest hurdle in her life, which proves to be harder than she and Rafael (Justin Baldoni) would have hoped.

Meanwhile, Rogelio (Jaime Camil) discovers that he and River (Brooke Shields) are not as equal as he thought.

Finally, Jane and Petra (Yael Grobglas) must deal with the children not getting along with each other, which in turn brings up issues of how Petra and Jane feel about each other.

Warning – you’re going to cry over Justin Baldoni and Yael Grobglas‘s Instagrams about the last table read ever for Jane The Virgin.

The two actors posted sweet tributes to the series on their Instagrams just moments after gathering for the final table read of the show.

“Just had our last table read for #janethevirgin . After crying non stop for 1.5 hours I’m gonna go pass out. Too many feelings,” Yael wrote with her pic.

Justin added with his own, “Ends are always hard. We’ve grown up together. Been through massive life moments together. Through joy and pain. These are real friendships. Not ‘show friendships’. It’s the end of an era but the beginning of so many incredible things.”

Jane seeks out advice from both her mom and dad in these stills from tonight’s Jane The Virgin.

In Chapter Eighty-three, with Jane’s (Gina Rodriguez) Catholic guilt starting to settle in, she turns to Alba (Ivonne Coll) for advice and gets an unexpected answer. Luisa (Yara Martinez) decides to go see Rose (Bridget Regan) with Rafael (Justin Baldoni) by her side, in order to help get answers.

Meanwhile, Rogelio (Jaime Camil) is back to work with River (Brooke Shields), but a power struggle ensues between the two and Xo (Andrea Navedo) might be the solution they have been looking for.

The big reveal about Michael took everyone for a surprise on Jane the Virgin last night.

Turns out that Michael, played by Brett Dier, had forgotten everything about who he had been, thanks to Rose aka Sin Rostro.

Showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman spoke to Variety about why amnesia was the go to story and what’s ahead now that Michael, now Jason, is back in Jane’s life.

“Amnesia was the thing that first entered us into that space with Rogelio’s telenovela, and so once we knew Michael/Jason was coming back, amnesia felt like the right move in terms of just how to create so much drama for the finale season,” she shared. “Also the emotional toll of how someone you love looks at you like a stranger felt very exciting but also challenging, in terms of how to ground that.”

Jennie adds that the writers “had to recreate everything” when it came to Brett’s character.

“How would you do that if you didn’t know if you were a good person or a bad person? You wouldn’t be talking all of the time because you’d be afraid of what you may say that could be bad or incriminate you in some way or give away something that you don’t know,” she says. “So that made us think about him as somebody who was just sort of keeping his head down, quiet and observing — just sort of watching people for cues and things. That made him a more internal person because he’s lived without any kind of sense of history, memory — anything — to hold on to.”

Now, with Michael’s new persona, Jason in the mix, it gives “the show a new relationship to explore — because he’s this new character, but she’s [Jane] looking at him as her husband.”

So, what’s next?

“It’s part of the journey — what does Jane owe this person [and] how can she help him, while also preserving her sense of herself and her family and where she is in her life. How does it not take over her life? The answers to that are not easy, and they keep changing,” Jennie adds.

The final season of Jane The Virgin airs Wednesdays on The CW.

Jane the Virgin answered the question you’ve had on the tip of your tongue for months – is that really Michael?

The answer is yes, it is. However, he doesn’t remember ANYTHING from his past life. He doesn’t remember Jane, or their life together. He also goes by Jason now, too.

Here’s what happened: Rose aka Sin Rostro faked Michael’s death.

A flashback detailed how Rafael finds out Michael is alive, which he found out from Rose, who faked his death, which happened because she bribed some EMT drivers and then gave Michael amnesia via electroshock therapy focused on the hippocampus and temporal lobe.

Once she was sure he didn’t remember anything about his old life, she then convinced him that his name is actually Jason and it was all to get Luisa’s location.

This is also why Rafael had been pulling back from Jane for a while, as well, because he’s been working on this Michael/Jason ordeal for quite a while.
