David Archuleta reunites with David Cook backstage at the American Idol Finale held at Dolby Theatre on Thursday night (April 7) in Hollywood.
The two Season 7 guys joined Amber Holcomb, Allison Iraheta, Caleb Johnson, Mackenzie Bourg, Dalton Rapattoni, and Jessica Sanchez on the blue carpet ahead of the big event.
“Wow, what a night it has been this finale of all @AmericanIdol Finales. I’m grateful to have been a part of this legacy and to have met such wonderful people both contestants in front of the camera and crew behind the scenes,” David wrote on Twitter afterwards.
He added, “Congrats @TrentWHarmon for earning that final idol win, and to @laporsharenae for also rocking it! The final 2 of this talented group and look forward to hearing more from both of you!”

The 20-year-old season 11 runner-up was joined by prior contestants for a medley of songs, which was opened by Katharine McPhee and Casey James singing Lady Antebellum‘s “Need You Now”

Other performers, who Harry Connick Jr. called “some of the best singers American Idol has discovered,” included Carly Smithson, Clay Aiken, Ruben Studdard and Amber Holcomb.

Jessica Sanchez Sings “The Prayer”
Jessica Sanchez looks super cute in a short, shimmering dress while on the for the American Idol series finale on Thursday (April 7) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
The 20-year-old season 11 runner-up was joined at the event by season 12′s winner Candice Glover.

It looks like Candice has been having a blast getting ready for the American Idol finale and has been sharing lots of behind-the-scenes videos on her Instagram.
“Rehearsals are tiring but so fun! Loving the vibe of everyone giving and taking from each other in the most positive way. #IdolFinale #IdolFarewell,” she wrote.

The 20-year-old singer recently spoke with Billboard about the final season of American Idol and her experience on the show.
“It was a big part of my life. It felt like I was on that show for years, and being in that Idol bubble it felt like a family with the staff and the judges and the contestants, so it’s sad seeing it end,” she shared.
Jessica added, “But I know they will be going out with a bang. This is their final season and they are going to kill it. I’m excited for that.”

Speaking with Popdust recently, Jessica dished that she might have a new record deal soon!
“We’re talking to a couple major labels. This year, I might jump on some tours. I’m very, very excited,” she revealed.
Jessica added, “I’m also working with a couple producers for new music. I’m just ready for the new year. When you go into a major label, a lot is happening, and you don’t want to be this little dot in this big industry. You want attention, in a way. I definitely want to make some noise for myself. That’s why we did the EP independently. But having the backing of a major label would be amazing.”

“It’s gonna be like a big Idol party! There’s gonna be so much talent, it’s ridiculous,” Jessica told us about the concert. “I’m excited not only to meet them but to hear them sing also!”

JJJ: We’re obsessed with your newly released Christmas EP. Why did you want to do a holiday themed EP?
Jessica Sanchez: Aww thank you! I’ve always wanted to do a Christmas album. This EP actually happened really last minute! I was terribly sick at the time, but I really wanted to give the fans some new music so we decided to recorded it the next 2 days after coming up with the idea. [I'm] Really happy that you guys like it even though I was sick. Just wait, next year it’ll be much better!
JJJ: Do you have a favorite track on the EP? Is there a holiday song you wish you would’ve included afterwards?
JS: I LOVE “Santa Baby”! Just love how sexy and festive it is. There’s tons of songs I wish I could’ve done but, there’s always next year.
