“The hardest thing about playing Finn was holding back all the time,” John added about his character. “Trying to be led by fear rather than strength was a tricky balance to ride without coming across as the pushover! Everyone expected acrobatics and a fully rogue badass character. (BORING) heroes are not born in one movie. Wait for the trilogy. Finn ain’t playing no more.”

The 24-year-old Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor picked up the Best Male Newcomer award, along with co-star Daisy Ridley, who won the Best Female Newcomer award.
John also took the stage later to accept the Best Director award on behalf of J.J. Abrams for the flick.
Max Irons and Douglas Booth also stepped out to the event to present Colin Gibson with the award for Best Production Design for Mad Max: Fury Road.

The 23-year-old Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor explained on Instagram that the little boy wanted to bring Finn to the hospital to cheer up the children.
“This little stormtrooper Daniel had a wonderful wish after seeing the force awakens. Daniel currently lives with a brain tumor and rather than having Finn to himself he wanted Finn to meet the kids at the Royal London hospital and give them some toys. I stayed in character while I was with this brave boy asking him what a car was. He taught Finn about everything earth related! Really thankful for the opportunity this child granted me and I’m just humbled! I hope I played a little part in making you smile young stormtrooper,” John wrote on his account.

The 23-year-old Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor picked up the EE Rising Star Award and posed with his trophy in the winners room backstage. He beat out Dakota Johnson, Brie Larson, Bel Powley, and Taron Egerton. The award was voted for by the public!
John revealed on the red carpet that he begins filming Star Wars: Episode VIII on Monday.
“I start tomorrow,” John told People. “I’ve got a 6 a.m. pickup tomorrow!”
