Andi Mack's Joshua Rush Reveals If He's Going To Quit Acting For Career In Politics

Andi Mack's Joshua Rush Reveals If He's Going To Quit Acting For Career In Politics

Is Joshua Rush quitting acting?!

The 17-year-old Andi Mack actor recently opened up his love for politics and dished whether he would quit his entertainment career.

“Ah, the burning question that my parents are asking too. I don’t have an answer to it, honestly,” Joshua told Teen Vogue. “I love them both, and I love the career that I’ve built for myself in L.A., and I also love what I’m building for myself right now in D.C. I don’t know where the future takes me, but I do want to study in college and learn everything that I can. No matter where I go, I want to be active in politics.”

He also answered if being outspoken in politics has jeopardized getting any acting jobs.

“No, I don’t think so. Me being outspoken about it has been very much supported by my parents and everyone I’ve ever been employed by,” Joshua said. “Honestly, the most restrictive people were the members of Congress themselves, because they were worried I’d say something and be attached to their name and jeopardize their reelection chances.”

Joshua currently voices Bunga on Disney Junior’s The Lion Guard, as well as Waldo in Dreamworks’ animated short series Where’s Waldo?

Joshua Rush Identifies As Bisexual In Series of Tweets To Fans

Joshua Rush Identifies As Bisexual In Series of Tweets To Fans

Joshua Rush has opened up about his sexuality in a new series of tweets to fans.

The 17-year-old Andi Mack star, who starred on the show as the first openly gay main character Cyrus, has identified as bisexual.

“first to respond to this tweet is bi lol,” Josh first tweeted before his announcement. “i win! it’s me. i’m bi. And now that I’ve said that, I have a few things to rant about. There are more important things to talk about than me liking a whole bunch of genders, but I do want to share a few things with you guys.”

He continues, “I saw so many of you watch Cyrus come out and said ‘Hey! I can be me!’ How ironic, isn’t it, that me, playing that character, never had mustered up that courage?”

“Instead of feeling the courage to tell you today that I am an out and proud bisexual man because of the character I played for four years, I feel that courage thinking of all of you, who felt emboldened by Cyrus to come out.”

“I had a close friend of mine come out to me in fifth grade. FIFTH GRADE! That was well before I had any clue of my own identity and orientation. I suffered with some level of my own internalized homophobia even while playing the first openly gay character on Disney Channel.”

Josh goes on, saying that “I stuffed the existential crisis of talking about my sexual orientation into a box in my mind for years. Today, I release it into the world. Being bi isn’t all of my identity, nor is it the most important part of my identity. Bi erasure and issues like it are important, but trans women of color still have a life expectancy of THIRTY FIVE YEARS and that is absolutely unacceptable.”

“So. I want to encourage you all to donate to GLAAD. Our show wouldn’t have existed in the form that it did without them, but also because their hard work in furthering acceptance in media helps an uncountable number of people. I also want to encourage you to read their page on bisexuality. It has been incredibly helpful to me, and their resources have helped me to find where I fit on the spectrum of sexuality.”

“I also want to ask you to donate to The Trevor Project, who are literally saving lives every day. Helping young LGBTQ+ voices feel heard and loved is utterly crucial,” Josh adds. “Thank you to you for giving me the courage to know who I am and tell you this today. Happy 20biteen!”

Cameron Boyce's Death Sent 'Ripples' Through The Disney Community, This Star Says

Lilan Bowden didn’t know Cameron Boyce personally, but his unexpected death still affected her.

Speaking with PopCulture, the Andi Mack actress opened up about how Cameron‘s passing left “a big hole in the heart of the Disney Channel.”

“There’s so many people. Well when we heard the news, it really was very affecting because… the Disney Channel community is so close,” Lilan shared. “And I thought of all the people I know personally, that it personally affects.”

Lilan continued, “It’s really hard. I really did feel like a member of a family that I’m a part of was gone, and it sent ripples.”

Joshua Rush, who starred on Andi Mack with Lilan, was one of the many who were close with Cameron, and refers to him as a mentor in many ways.

“Cameron had gone through all the fun parts of being a Disney star, and all of the stressful parts, of being a public figure, of having people try to figure out everything about your personal life all the time. He told me about the trade-off that I was making and I am forever grateful to him for his candor in those first moments, and beyond,” Josh shared with People.

He added, “I’ll remember him telling me to pass on what he taught me, and make sure that new people in the channel are ready for what it is and what it means to be a part of it,” Rush says.

If you missed it, the coroner’s office in Los Angeles revealed the official cause of Cameron‘s passing.

Joshua Rush Shares The First Ever Pic He Took on the 'Andi Mack' Set

Joshua Rush saved the first pic he ever took on the set and shared it at the last possible moment, ahead of Andi Mack‘s series finale.

“This photo was taken on January 27, 2016. It came at the kickoff of 1,276 of the greatest days of my life,” the 17-year-old actor wrote in the caption. “It feels unreal—four years of my life, the most amazing cast and friends for life I made, the appallingly talented crew, the ridiculously devoted and ever-excited fans, how can I thank you all enough?”

The pic features Josh with co-stars Asher Angel and Peyton Elizabeth Lee.

He continued, “It has been the crowning joy of my life to work on this project, and then another joy to experience you all watching the show. I talk about it in interviews all the time, but every fanfic, fan art, excited tweet, instagram post, tumblr theory…amazing.”

“Whether or not you picked up our show at the beginning or end of it’s run, no matter how you watched it, enjoyed it, and theorized it, and how you spent your time on social media around it (or chose not to!) I want to thank you personally, from the bottom of my heart, for your celebration of what our show stood for: love, care, understanding, acceptance.

“At it’s core, Andi Mack was a show about love. Our show said that no matter who you are or where you’re from, what your sexual orientation is, your family situation is, who your friends are, and so much more, you are loved.

Josh adds, “To everyone who felt loved by our show, found love through our show, or just felt seen or heard for the first time through the show, you are loved. Thank you for your love. Thank you for letting us love you. Thank you for loving yourself. ❤️.”

We love you, Josh!

'Andi Mack' Cast Party In Tonight's Series Finale - See The Pics!

Amber, Cyrus, Andi, Jonah and Buffy put on their best party outfits in the series finale of Andi Mack!

In tonight’s final episode, “We Were Here,” when Celia leaves town, Andi and Bex throw another party; Buffy and Cyrus share relationship woes; Andi shares a secret.

“When we learned that this would be the series finale, I don’t totally remember, but we were breaking Season Three and looking for our cliffhanger, this is like episode 10 out of 21, when we found out,” creator Terri Minsky dished to Paste Magazine. “So it was early enough that it was really great to be able to think, okay, we want to tell these stories, we want to get them in, we want to make sure that they lead to a place where it will conclude. I didn’t want to have people feeling cheated, especially if they’ve been watching the whole time. But it was hard, very, very hard, to know at Episode 10 and not be able to tell anyone. We definitely cried a little in the writers room, but [in terms of organic storytelling], it also made sense.”

Fun fact about tonight’s episode: it features a cover of Lady Gaga‘s song “Born This Way”.

Tune in TONIGHT (July 26) to the Andi Mack series finale at 8pm ET/PT on Disney Channel!
