Beauty and Jo forge an unbreakable bond that carries Beauty through the different chapters, challenges, and adventures of her life.

The 19-year-old actress will star as Jo Green opposite the famed horse, who will be voiced by Kate Winslet.
Here’s a synopsis: Black Beauty is a wild mustang born free in the American west. When she is captured and taken away from family, her story intertwines with that of 17-year old Jo Green, similarly grieving over the loss of her parents. The two slowly develop a bond that is built on love, respect and mutual healing.
Black Beauty will also star Iain Glen as John Manly and Claire Forlani as Mrs. Winthorp, and premiere on Disney+ this fall!

The 18-year-old actress has signed on to star in the Black Beauty remake – based on the children’s classic by Anna Sewell – alongside Kate Winslet.
Mackenzie will be playing a 17-year-old girl who bonds with Black Beauty to help overcome the death of her parents. Kate will be voicing Black Beauty’s inner thoughts.
Adolescence director Ashley Avis will be directing the reboot while also adapting the new screenplay.
The one major change in this version is that Black Beauty will be a wild mustang captured on the Wyoming Plains instead of being a carriage horse like in the book.

“It was something I was sort of worried about in the beginning,” Liam told Salon about the age difference between him and Kate, 39. “I felt like I was possibly too young to play this part because in this film we’re seen as the same age, around the same age� But onscreen – Kate is such a beautiful woman and I have a beard in the film so I look quite a bit older, so I don’t think it’s an issue at all� She looks really young and I look weathered and old.”
