The actress, who played Laurel Lance on the CW show for four seasons, will be coming back as Black Siren…and there was another possibility that she could’ve ended up on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, too.
“That was something we had talked about,” EP Marc Guggenheim shared. “For us, the whole conversation about bringing Katie back as a series regular on Arrow began with her performance in the midseason premiere.”
He adds, “We briefly spoke about bringing her on Legends, but I think from a story perspective we would get far more mileage out of her interacting with the cast of Arrow.”
Katie is pictured below arriving at the airport in Vancouver.
While Arrow‘s Felicity is spending time and working at Helix, she’s going to run into someone who is going to be major trouble — could it be Vigilante unmasked?
“What’s interesting about it is he’s not actually at Helix right now, so there’s going to be a big episode where we find out who this person is,” EP Wendy Mericle told Entertainment Weekly recently.
Felicity will be meeting him first, before anyone else on Team Arrow and she won’t have any idea that he’s evil.
“Felicity is involved in helping him,” Wendy adds. “It’s really messed up.”
No kidding!
If you remember, Felicity is at Helix with the sole purpose of getting revenge against Prometheus and Adrian.

Katie Cassidy is coming back to Arrow, but in a different way than you might think.
According to THR, she will in fact be a series regular once again – as Laurel’s evil Earth-2 doppelgnger Black Siren.
“One of the things that most excites us about Arrow is that we go where the story takes us,” executive producer Marc Guggenheim said. “Last year, the story took us to the tragic death of Laurel Lance. This year, our midseason finale reintroduced us to Laurel’s doppelgnger, Black Siren. We were so taken by Katie‘s fearless interpretation of this character that we knew her story was not yet finished. We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Katie back to Arrow as Black Siren, though as her appearances on Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow this season show, she never really left the family.”
The two actress sisters stepped out for the Ted Baker London Spring/ Summer 17 Launch Dinner last night in Los Angeles and couldn’t resist grabbing a super cute pic together.
Remember when we heard the big news that Katie Cassidy would be a series regular across ALL of the DC shows on The CW? Well, it looks like that’s changed.
The actress, who portrayed Laurel Lance on flagship show Arrow, might not be returning to the DC Universe for a while.
“We have an idea for how to see her again, but we haven’t made a deal with her yet,” producer Marc Guggenheim shared at a recent press event.
“She’s not a series regular anymore, so we have to make a contract with her and she’s got to be available, and we haven’t had those conversations,” he confirmed.
So does that mean Laurel, and even her alter egos Black Siren/Canary, are gone for good? Not yet.
“We do have an idea [how to bring her back]. We know exactly what we do want to do,” he added.
It would be so wrong not to have her back!
FYI: Katie is also pictured below arriving at the Vancouver International Airport for a flight out this week.
Laurel Lance did indeed return to Star City on Arrow last night…it just wasn’t the Laurel that we all knew.
Instead of being the same Laurel (played by Katie Cassidy) we saw die at the end of season four (who we all hoped it actually was), this Laurel was actually Earth-2′s Black Siren!
During the episode, (and after Felicity caught the deception) Black Siren explained that she had come after Team Arrow because of big bad Prometheus as he was threatening her life.
So, after trying to kill Felicity (don’t you dare!), she’s locked up at a secure A.R.G.U.S. facility.
“The episode ends with laying a very specific seed with a very specific game plan on our part that we hope to see come to fruition,” EP Marc Guggenheim shared with EW after the episode aired. What does that even mean?!
Tune in next week for an all new ep of Arrow on The CW.
