'Switched At Birth' Remembers Angelo For 100th Episode - Sneak Peek!

If your breath didn’t hitch in your throat just like Katie Leclerc‘s did during this scene, it definitely should have!

While there’s no new Switched at Birth this week, next week, the longtime series will air its’ 100th episode and it will remember Angelo, Bay and Daphne’s father.

When JJJ spoke to Vanessa Marano about the episode last year, they hadn’t started filming it yet.

“I don’t even know if it will be heartbreaking or not! I’m excited though for Gilles Marini to come back,” she told us.

Vanessa adds, “This entire season has a lot of returning story lines actually. We left a lot of loose ends open last season so now we’re tying everything together. There’s a lot of…it’s very much like a new year because so much time has passed and the girls are at these new places in their lives.”

Watch the heartbreaking scene below and get ready for the 100th episode!

Katie Leclerc, Cierra Ramirez, Shay Mitchell, Emeraude Toubia, Katherine McNamara and Sherri Saum, plus Vanessa and Sasha picked up their fave books to pose for “Shelfies” to support the Magic of Storytelling campaign.

It aims to inspire families’ imaginations, cultivate a lifelong love of reading in kids, and bring books to underserved communities across the country.

Sasha showed off her fave, “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus” by Mo Willems, because she thinks “it’s really funny and cute for kids. It’s the type of book I loved to read when I was little.” So cute!

Shadowhunters star Emeraude picked “Mango, Abuela, and Me” by Meg Medina, because it reminds her of her grandmother. It’s a book she would want to read to her kids in the future.

TELL JJJ: What’s your favorite book of all time?

Psst, if you didn’t know, Disney and ABC have teamed up again with First Book, and are aiming to donate over one million books this year to the nonprofit, which provides new books to educators and organizations serving children from low-income families by the end of March!

'Switched At Birth' Recap: What Will Daphne Do Now After Campus Racism in Last Night's Episode?

'Switched At Birth' Recap: What Will Daphne Do Now After Campus Racism in Last Night's Episode?

Switched at Birth just got so real on last night’s episode.

During the show, Daphne (Katie Leclerc) and Mingo (Adam Hagenbuch) were accused of racism after attending a costume party where Mingo dressed up as Lil Wayne.

While Mingo and Daphne tried to figure out why dressing up like their favorite musician was racist and he can’t figure out why no one at the party had a problem with them but now it is a huge deal, most of their friends, including Iris (who pointed it out), aren’t taking to them.

“On the one hand she’s deaf. She’s Puerto Rican, or she thinks of herself as Puerto Rican even though her skin is white, but who has a bit of a blind spot or a different perspective on race,” creator Lizzy Weiss opens up about the storyline.

“To really throw her into that so that she starts off confused by why something that happens is causing such a stir with her black friends. Then to really take her through a journey, but eventually we shift and we put our black characters at the forefront of the story.”

So, what’s ahead for the show and Daphne? “[She] really struggles to figure out both what she did wrong and truly understand that and then try to mend it.”

Lizzy adds, “As we shift and slowly start moving towards the perspective of our black characters, Iris in Episode 2 really grows in importance. We get to hear her voice and really hear from our black characters [about] what it feels like to walk around a campus in black skin. What are things that white students and white viewers don’t realize? Let’s really ask them.”

Vanessa Marano & Katie Leclerc Took Squirrels From the 'Switched at Birth' Set!

Vanessa Marano & Katie Leclerc Took Squirrels From the 'Switched at Birth' Set!

If you’ve ever watched an episode of Switched at Birth, you know that Kathryn Kennish’s (Lea Thompson) home is covered in squirrels — and that’s just what stars Vanessa Marano and Katie Leclerc swiped from the set after wrapping the series.

“I definitely have one of Kathryn’s squirrels at home,” Katie was quick to admit in a recent interview.

Vanessa adds, “I know Lea stole a squirrel. Katie stole a squirrel. I also have a squirrel. So, apparently, we just all steal squirrels.”

While watching the final season, be on the lookout for all the squirrels — Kathryn’s apron even has a squirrel on it!

Vanessa also admitted that she really wanted to take something else: “There’s a dresser that I want. I don’t know how I’m going to get it into my car. I might have to pay for it. I’m not sure how I can steal it.”

Lea, along with SAB creator Lizzy Weiss, and co-stars D.W. Moffett and Sharon Pierre-Louis, and Beyond cast Burkely Duffield, Eden Brolin, Jonathan Whitesell, and Romy Rosemont are also pictured below at the aTVfest 2017 presented by SCAD in Atlanta, Ga.

VIDEO: Catch Up With 'Switched At Birth' in New Video Recap!

Do you remember everything that happened last season on Switched At Birth?

We know we don’t — and that’s majorly because of the year long break in between the seasons. Who else had a year long break?

Thankfully, Freeform debuted a new recap of the show, catching us all up on what happened and what’s going to come on the hit show.

“I have a lot of respect for the creators to be able to take the risk to go there,” star Katie Leclerc shared in her interview with NKD mag about taking on a deaf show.

She adds of playing Daphne, “My favorite thing about Daphne is that she is just a high school girl. The deafness is secondary to everything else and I think fans responded to that.”

Switched At Birth premieres TONIGHT @ 9PM ET/PT on Freeform.

'Switched At Birth's Vanessa Marano Recalls Her First Impression of 'Swister' Katie Leclerc

If you’ve been following Switched at Birth and its’ cast since the start, then you know that stars Vanessa Marano and Katie Leclerc are insanely close.

So close, that in event of a zombie apocalypse, Vanessa would be with Katie over everyone else: “I know the one who’s going to survive is Katie. Katie is very prepared for a zombie apocalypse.”

JJJ spoke with Vanessa about bonding with the cast during the first season of the hit Freeform show, and she did us a solid, remembering her first impression of just about everyone!

“We all get along really well. I have a very specific memory of us shooting in the Kennish house and it wasn’t a set yet,” Vanessa recalls. “It was a real house we were shooting in we had to be upstairs in the attic, which was our ‘holding area’.”

“The first thing [I remember] was Katie teaching us all a dirty sign. That was our first bonding experience (laughs).”

She continues, “I remember Constance [Marie], D.W. [Moffett] and Lea [Thompson] all trading stories about Jimmy Burrows, the director because they had all worked with him before that. We all just got along so well.”
