With all these shows making comebacks and returning with either a whole new cast or even with the original cast (like the Gilmore Girls revival on Netflix), we are wondering which shows JJJ readers would want to see return!
We’ve gathered a list of TV series in the Teen/Young Adult genre that were canceled after one season, two seasons, or even shows that just ended after multiple seasons. Those include the fan favorite Teen Wolf, Scream Queens, Katy Keene and Famous In Love.
While we have ten shows listed, if you’re not that interested in any of them, or perhaps there’s another Teen/YA show that you really want to return, we highly encourage you to write in your own answer!
The CW just announced that the show has been canceled after just one season and Lucy, 31, posted a video about the news on her Instagram account.
“Sad to deliver this news ! But I love the show. I love what it stands for. And mostly I love YOU. To the cast, crew, and all involved… 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 adore you,” Lucy captioned the post.
In the video, Lucy said, “This is a job that has broken my heart multiple times… It will take some time to get over it.”
“I just wanted you all to hear that the show is not coming back and that sucks, but I’ll hold my head high. Who knows what I’ll do next. We’ll see,” Lucy said while signing off.
The Riverdale spinoff’s time on The CW has come to an end, but it will look for another home, Deadline reports.
As fans know, the series’ fate has been up in the air for months, and was even left out when The CW revealed it’s 2020-2021 schedule.
Katy Keene followed the lives and loves of four iconic Archie Comics characters — fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene, singer/songwriter Josie McCoy, performer Jorge Lopez/Ginger, and “It Girl” Pepper Smith — as they chase their twenty-something dreams in New York City… together.
Lucy Hale performed a beautiful rendition of the song “She Used to Be Mine” during the season finale of Katy Keene and you can now listen to the cover right here.
If you didn’t know, the song was written by Grammy winner Sara Bareilles for the Broadway musical Waitress.
Lucy explained on The Talk this week that the song is actually one of her favorite songs of all time.
“I get to sing ‘She Used To Be Mine’ from the Broadway musical Waitress, sung by Sara Bareilles. It was like one of my top three favorite songs before they told me I was going to sing this song. So, it’s kind of a full circle moment. It’s a big song to tackle, so I’m glad they trusted me with it,” Lucy said. “We have a lot of Broadway’s legends on the show and a lot of Broadway influences.”
The Katy Keene season one finale just aired and many are wondering if there will be a second season.
While no decision has been made yet, there is hope for a season two.
Earlier today (May 14), The CW President Mark Pedowitz said that they have extended the options for the cast to return.
“The linear ratings have been soft but we have seen some good streaming viewership,” he added, via Deadline. “We’ll make a decision in a few weeks.”
So, if you want more Katy Keene, be sure to stream the show online as much as you can, and be sure to also stream it when it comes out on upcoming service HBO Max.
There are “active discussions” with the studio about Green Arrow and the Canaries according to the exec, but it has not yet been ordered to series. That and The 100 prequel series are “very much alive.”
