Not Everyone Made It To Riverdale's Graduation Episode, Showrunner Reveals

Tonight’s the night – the Riverdale gang is graduating!

The all new episode is the final one before the series jumps forward seven years. This ep was originally meant to be the season six finale.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who wrote the episode, revealed that not all of the characters made to the episode.

“Today’s a big day in #Riverdale. As excited/nervous as I was for my own high school graduation waaaay too many years ago. Somehow, this one means more. Not all of our characters survived to make it to graduation. Not all of the actors we wanted to come back were able to for various reasons (including Covid). But so grateful to everyone in this picture. And to many more who aren’t in the picture, but we’ll be seeing soon. Next stop: Seven years in the future…🚀🎢📸👀💥☠️,” he shared on Instagram, where he’s been sharing tidbits.

“All the secrets will come out; all the tears will flow,” Roberto shared the day before.

“The gang finally graduates, tonight. 🎓 a very sentimental, emotional episode for everyone who has been on this Riverdale journey with us since day 1,” Lili Reinhart shared on her social media.

“Everything changes tonight. @thecwriverdale,” KJ Apa added.

If you missed the good news, it was just announced that Riverdale has already been picked up for another season, along with many other CW shows!

One of the stars of the show, Lili Reinhart, took to her Instagram page to celebrate the January 26th anniversary.

“Riverdale premiered 4 years ago. And what a wild ride it has been since then. In honor of that— here are some pics from 5 years ago, when we were just little babies who had no idea that we were about to become family,” she wrote, along with photos from the pilot episode.

She shared even more pics on her story, and they include photos with co-stars Camila Mendes, KJ Apa, Madchen Amick and Cole Sprouse!

Riverdale
showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa also memorialized the day.

“Four years ago today #Riverdale premiered on the @thecw. I took this photo in Vancouver, the night before we started shooting the pilot. It’s been an unbelievable journey. Eternal gratitude to everyone who’s helped bring these characters to life and to tell these crazy stories. The writers, the directors, the producers, the executives, the crew, the editors, and tTHE CAST. And, of course, to our amazing fans. I wasn’t sure this show would ever happen; and I still can’t believe we get to work on it. Love you and THANK YOU!! ❤️🔥💥💋🚀💪🏼🪟👀🎢🐍👠💃🏻☠️” he wrote with a photo of Ashleigh Murray, Madelaine Petsch, Camila, Lili and Cole.

Madelaine Petsch Talks KJ Apa's Shirtless Dancing During Quarantine (Exclusive)

Madelaine Petsch Talks KJ Apa's Shirtless Dancing During Quarantine (Exclusive)

Madelaine Petsch is opening up about her thoughts on her Riverdale co-star KJ Apa‘s shirtless dancing TikToks!

In case you forgot, when KJ joined TikTok in July 2020, one of his first uploads was an interesting dance while shirtless.

During this exclusive first look at her new “Stir Crazy with Josh Horowitz” interview, the 26-year-old dished on her co-star.

“I love KJ. When he put it out, I did text him and ask was that meant to be posted. So you know, it is what it is,” Madelaine said. “You know what though, I have to say, I love his Instagram stories too. He does this really funny skit stuff. It just comes right out of his head. A lot of people think he’s insane, but honestly, I think he’s a genius.”

Madelaine also dished on Camila Mendes‘ latte art, whether she can really tell the Sprouse twins apart, and revealed what social media she hasn’t had on her phone for years.

KJ Apa Reveals New Details About 'Riverdale' Post Time Jump!

KJ Apa Reveals New Details About 'Riverdale' Post Time Jump!

KJ Apa is spilling some tea on the upcoming fifth season of Riverdale!

The 23-year-old actor, who plays Archie Andrews, revealed some details about his character’s future and the rest of the cast after the seven year time jump.

“I feel like this is the kind of thing the show needed to kind of freshen up all the characters,” he told TV Line. “The new world of Riverdale, now that we are playing older characters, has changed a little bit.”

“We learn that everyone kind of went their separate ways. Archie enlisted in the Army after graduation, and when he returns, after all that time in the Army, he discovers the town is on the verge of becoming a ghost town, thanks to Hiram,” KJ added.

He also dished on Archie bringing everyone else back into town.

“They talk about how they can revive the town again. Archie very much takes the lead on this. He came back and saw Riverdale turning to s–t pretty much, and he’s like, ‘There’s no way I’m going to let this happen.’ So he wrangles the whole team in, and they figure out ways to revive the town, and the best way to do that is through Riverdale High,” he said.

Riverdale‘s upcoming fifth season is getting closer and closer!

Ahead of the January premiere, we just got brand new poster for the series, which features stars KJ Apa, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart.
