This week it was announced that Kristine Froseth would be starring as Alaska in Hulu’s upcoming Looking For Alaska series and we could not be more excited – and it looks like she feels the same way!
The 22-year-old actress shared a cute note on her Instagram after the big news, showing fans that she is dedicated to bring the character to life in an honorable way.
“I can’t put into words how I am feeling right now,” Kristinewrote. “#LookingForAlaska is an important story that has been so close to my heart since I first read this beautiful book when I was 13.”
She adds, “I am beyond honored to be bringing Alaska to life with the amazing @charlieplummer @joshschwartz76 #stephaniesavage in the @hulu adaptation of the @johngreen novel. I really believe that with this team, we’re going to do LFA justice. Can’t wait to share it with you guys!!!”
Charlie, who will play Miles, is also excited about the role: “Dreams coming true today:) I’ve loved this novel and these characters for years and I’m beyond excited and honored to be a small part of the team that’ll bring them to life.”
The leads for Hulu’s upcoming Looking For Alaska series were just announced and they are perfect!
Author John Green, who wrote the novel that the show is based on, revealed the actors who would be playing the characters on Twitter this afternoon.
“In the Looking for Alaska @hulu series, Alaska will be played by Kristine Froseth (kristine_froseth on instagram), and Miles will be played by Charlie Plummer (@charliefplummer here and on instagram–but mostly on instagram),” he wrote.
Previously, John addressed fans about the upcoming series and any possible backlash about the castings.
“his has been (over!) 13 years in the making, and I am so excited,” he wrote. “I am so grateful that LFA has an enthusiastic readership all these years after its publication. I know people have strong casting opinions, but I’d ask you to remember that the people who’ve been cast are human beings (and young ones), so please be kind if/when tagging them.”
John added, “Also, a friendly reminder that I do not cast movies or limited series adaptations on Hulu. But I did get to see both of these actors’ auditions, and they are both truly brilliant and embody the characters to me. They’re both also fans of the book, which is nice!”
Congrats to Kristine and Charlie!
I spoke to Kristine and Charlie on the phone yesterday and it was really special to have a conversation with the people who will become Miles and Alaska. I'm so grateful to them and to everyone involved with the Looking for Alaska series. It's all starting to feel very real!
Kristine Froseth is going to be one name you won’t be forgetting anytime soon after Sierra Burgess is a Loser premieres on Netflix.
The 20-year-old actress stars as Veronica in the new film, premiering on Friday, September 7th.
“I received the script and fell in love with it,” she shared in a new profile with W magazine. “I laughed and cried, and felt that it did such a good job of telling this story but through a different perspective.”
Kristine adds, “It’s more about female friendship than just a girl trying to get the guy. There were so many things within the script that I was obsessed with.”
While she was immediately drawn to the film, she was a bit hesitant of going back to high school: “It was terrifying going back to high school. I didn’t like high school. But I was doing it from a completely different perspective.”
“The mean girls, they terrified me, and now I had to play one. I had to play the person I disliked the most at school. But it was fun playing a cheerleader, I do have to say that.”
Kristine also opened up about working with Shannon Purser: “[Shannon Purser] is the best. She is such a sweetheart and just 100 percent goodness. She always had my back, and I’m incredibly grateful to have gotten to work with her.”

The 22-year-old actor, who won over fans in To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, hit the red carpet with his co-stars at the premiere of Sierra Burgess Is A Loser on Thursday (August 30) at the ArcLight in Hollywood.
Sierra Burgess Is A Loser premieres on September 7.
FYI: Shannon is wearing a Tadashi Shoji dress and CSARITE fine jewelry by Nak Armstrong. Noah is wearing an Emporio Armani suit, Vans sneakers, and an IWC watch.
The film is “a modern rom-com retelling of the story of Cyrano de Bergerac, set in high school. It centers on Sierra (Shannon), an intelligent teen who does not fall into the shallow definition of high school pretty but, in a case of mistaken identity that results in unexpected romance, must team with the popular girl (Kristine) in order to win her crush,” according to Variety.
