A few of the show’s stars shared the news with fans on Instagram that they have finished filming.

“First mirror selfie of the season to the last. 🤳🏽 May 14th @disneyplus is going back to east high ❤️🤍,” Frankie A Rodriguez (Carlos) shared.
Julia Lester (Ashlyn) captioned her post, “and that’s a season 2 wrap! best show, best people ❤️ ash and her new middle part can’t wait to see you may 14th!!!!”
Sofia Wylie (Gina) commented on Julia‘s post, writing, “I MISS U ALREADY”
“I can’t believe I’m actually saying this, but that’s a wrap on Season 2!!! After the craziest year, we all got through this together. I love these people so freakin much and I know you all do too! May 14th is about to blow your MINDS!!!! ❤️🥀🐾😍,” Larry Saperstein, who plays Big Red, captioned his post.

Disney+ announced the news on Wednesday morning (February 24) that season two will come out on May 14!!!
Here’s a synopsis: The East High Wildcats, who are preparing to perform “Beauty and the Beast” as their spring musical, face off against rival school North High to win a prestigious and cutthroat student theater competition. Wigs are snatched, loyalties are tested, and ballads are belted.
The video actually serves as a kickoff for the drama club’s new Instagram page.
“Ladies, gentleman, or however else you identify, welcome to the East High drama club’s brand new Instagram page,” Frankie A. Rodriguez (Carlos) starts out in the clip.
He returns later in the video to give an update on the theater, which went up in flames on Thanksgiving in season one.
“We are excited to announce that behind these doors, the theater is being restored to it’s full, resplendid 1960s-era glory over the holiday break,” he shares.

The album features 13 songs from the cast of HSMTMTS, including an original Christmas song, “The Perfect Gift,” written and performed by Joshua Bassett.
During the upcoming special, the stars of the show will also share childhood holiday memories, best – and most embarrassing! – gifts, favorite traditions and family photos.
Fans will also get a sneak peek at season two, including the first song “Something In The Air,” which is also included on the soundtrack.

In addition to the trailer and “The Perfect Gift,” the soundtrack listing has also been released, which will include “Something In The Air,” the first major musical number from season two.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special will premiere on Disney+ on December 11th, and the soundtrack will be released THIS Friday (November 20)!
The upcoming special will feature the show’s stars singing their renditions of holiday classics, popular hits and a medley of Hanukkah favorites.
They will also share anecdotes of memorable holidays from their childhoods, best – and most embarrassing! – presents, favorite traditions, family photos and poignant New Year’s resolutions.
