Laura Carmichael hits the red carpet at the premiere of her new film, Burn, Burn, Burn during the 2015 BFI London Film Festival at Vue Haymarket in London, England on Thursday night (October 15).
The 28-year-old Downton Abbey actress opened up about her much different role in the movie.
“I’d played a tragic character in a period drama and this was a chance to do a comedy with a very contemporary, very modern character. Someone who felt like friends of mine,” Laura shared.
She added, “The filming was a lovely time. We toured the country like a small theatre company, the cast and crew staying in Ibis hotels by the motorway. It wasn’t very glamorous.”

Bonnie Wright and Laura Carmichael step out for the Theirworld and UNICEF education event on Monday afternoon (September 28) in New York City.
The 24- and 29-year-old British actresses spoke at the event for the #UpForSchool initiative which aims to make education a priority on the first day of the adoption of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The event included a celebration of the 10 million people from around the world who have stood up for every child’s right to go to school by signing the #UpForSchool petition, which is now the biggest ever petition on education which will be delivered to world leaders to demand change.

Laura Carmichael keeps it cute with a floral patterned dress for the 2015 Emmy Awards held at the Microsoft Theater on Sunday (September 20) in Los Angeles.
The 28-year-old Downton Abbey actress joined co-star Joanne Froggatt, who is up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. The show is also up for Outstanding Drama Series, and already won the Outstanding Hairstyling for a Single-Camera Series award last weekend.

The cast of Downton Abbey are all dressed up while attending their official Downton Abbey Wrap Party held at The Ivy on Saturday (August 15) in London, England.
In attendance at the event were Lily James, Laura Carmichael, Michelle Dockery, Elizabeth McGovern, Allen Leech, Hugh Bonneville, Lesley Nicol, Jim Carter, Phyllis Logan, Samantha Bond and Sophie McShera.
The day after, the Downton Abbey cast got dressed into their characters on set of the show to start filming the final scenes in London.

Laura Carmichael hits the red carpet at the BAFTA Tribute To ‘Downton Abbey’ event held at Richmond Theatre on Tuesday evening (August 11) in Richmond, England.
The 29-year-old actress, who plays Lady Edith, in the period drama joined her on-screen sister Michelle Dockery on the red carpet, as well as Lily James and Sophie McShera.

“Julian Fellowes has really done well,” Lily shared with press at the event about the ending of the series. “Reading the final episode I cried a lot – in a good way – happy tears.”

“It’s strange saying goodbye to the castle,” Laura said during the panel about the upcoming final season of the show. “It felt like, for a split second, it wasn’t our home anymore – and, of course, it never was our home, but it felt like it. As soon as they said ‘cut’ on that day, you realized it was just pretend. It was very emotional; we didn’t want to leave.”
