It has just been revealed that the CW prequel series, set in the 1800s, has officially been canceled after just one season on the network, Variety reports.

Unfortunately, this news was expected as it was a new show and the network is only looking to keep a few shows.

'Walker Independence' Star Lawrence Kao Reveals 10 Fun Facts About Himself (Exclusive)

Walker Independence is just ONE WEEK away (finally!) and star Lawrence Kao is opening up!

The actor will be playing Kai in the new Walker prequel series, who is ā€œa younger Chinese man with a kind face, fluent in English, and runs a local laundry, in partner with the older, more taciturn Bowen Sing. A former railroad worker, Kai has settled into his new life in Independence, where he meets Abby. He quickly befriends her, offering Abby her first meal and a friendly word of advice about staying in Independence.ā€

Walker Independence is set in the 1800s and follows Abby Walker (Katherine McNamara), an affluent and tough-minded Bostonian whose husband is murdered before her eyes while on their journey out West. After crossing paths with Calian (Justin Johnson Cortez), a curious Apache tracker, Abby arrives in the town of Independence, Texas, where she encounters diverse and eclectic residents running from their pasts, chasing their dreams, and keeping their own secrets. The cast of The CW‘s upcoming Walker prequel Walker Independence step out for the CW Upfronts presentation on Thursday morning (May 19) in New York City.

Justin Johnson Cortez, Katie Findlay, Katherine McNamara, Matt Barr, Lawrence Kao and Philemon Chambers all hit up the event to tease their upcoming show, which was picked up to series the week before.

Also in attendance was Walker star Ashley Reyes, representing the flagship series.

That same day, the first trailer for Walker Independence was released, showing what we can expect in the upcoming show.

Single All The Way's Philemon Chambers Is The Latest To Join 'Walker' Prequel Series

Philemon Chambers has been cast as a series regular on the Walker prequel spinoff pilot!

The Single All The Way actor joins the cast of Walker: Independence as Augustus, or Gus, Deadline reports.

“Guess the horse is out the stable šŸŽIā€™m excited to be sharing this news with you all and looking forward to you all meeting Augustus šŸ¤ !” Philemon shared on Instagram.

He joins Matt Barr, who was previously announced to lead the potential new series.
