Lucy Hale is on-set today for her first day of filming for her new show, Life Sentence — and it’s making her evaluate her life.
“Legitimately how I feel inside,” the 28-year-old former Pretty Little Liars actress captioned a photo of herself laughing during a table read. “So grateful. I can’t believe I get to do this for a living.”
She also tweeted out a picture of her chair as Stella for the first day of filming.
While we always guess that those in the entertainment industry love their jobs, it’s always amazing to hear them confirm just how much their work and their fans mean to them.
Lucy has spoken out about her gratitude in the past in light of PLL coming to a close.
The former Containment and Resurrection star has landed a series regular role on The CW’s new series, Life Sentence.
Starring Lucy Hale, the series centers on her character, a young woman diagnosed with terminal cancer. When she finds out that she’s not dying after all, she has to learn to live with the choices she made when she decided to “live like she was dying.”
Nadej will play the role of Sadie, an unabashedly candid teenage cancer patient.
She is repped by Primary Wave, Osbrink and Houghton Talent.
Life Sentence is set to premiere next year on The CW.
Lucy Hale is moving on from Aria Montgomery and embracing all that Stella Abbott, her new character in CW’s Life Sentence.
“She’s been living like she was dying, because she was – she had cancer, and she’s been told she had X amount of time live, so she was making all sorts of spontaneous decisions,” she shared about Stella. “She got married, she thought life was wonderful and her family was perfect, and then in the pilot we find out she’s going to live, so she has to re-figure out everything.”
Lucy continues, “She has to figure out who she is It’s sort of like she knew how to die, but she didn’t know how to live.”
But that is exactly why Lucy wants to be more like Stella.
“Stella makes the most of it,” she says. “I aspire to be more like her.”
“I think if everyone was like her, the world would be a much better place. She’s a fixer and she’s very optimistic and positive. I’m not always like that!”

The show centers on Stella (Hale), a girl who has spent the last eight years living like she was dying (because she was).
But when Stella finds out that her cancer has been cured, she is suddenly forced to face the long-term consequences of the “live in the moment” decisions she made, including marrying a total stranger. And if that’s not enough, she also finds out that her “perfect family” isn’t so perfect after all.
Turns out, because she was dying, everyone in her life hid their problems from her. But, now that she’s well, all bets are off.
Lucy Hale is staying put on our TV screens and JJJ is rejoicing!
We mean, what would our lives be without Lucy in it on a weekly basis?
Just after the pickup news, Lucy‘s co-star Elliot Knight shared a fun first look at the show on his Instagram. See it below!
The show follows “a young woman who thought she had terminal cancer and decided to live it up as if she only had a short period of time left before she perished…then she learns she isn’t actually sick at all – and now has to live with all the choices she made during a spree when she was ‘living like she was dying.’”
