Landry Bender, Riverdale's Jordan Connor & More Join Hulu's 'Looking For Alaska' Series

Six new faces are joining Hulu’s Looking For Alaska series – and some a super familiar!

Landry Bender, Jordon Connor, Denny Love, Jay Lee, Sofia Vassillieva, and Uriah Shelton are all set as series regulars in the eight-ep show, which also stars Kristine Froseth and Charlie Plummer.

Looking for Alaska is told through the eyes of teenager Miles “Pudge” Halter (Plummer), as he enrolls in boarding school to try to gain a deeper perspective on life. He falls in love with a girl, Alaska Young (Froseth), and after her unexpected death, he and his close friends attempt to uncover the truth behind her death and make sense of it.

Denny is The Colonel aka Chip Martin is a short (and very smart) muscular tank of a young man. He’s a scholarship student and under orders from his mother to get a good enough education. He’s an enemy of the lacrosse jocks and insanely loyal to his friends.

Jay plays Takumi, who is famous for knowing all the gossip and effortlessly bounces back between the two groups of friends but is ever loyal to The Colonel and Alaska.

Landry will play Sara, The Colonel’s girlfriend. She is also short and angry – but her rage is only directed at The Colonel because he manages to do something that pisses her off pretty much every time they interact. She and The Colonel are one of those bickering couples, who spend their lives hollering at each other.

Sofia is Lara, a cute, shy and sweet girl from Romania, who develops a crush on Miles.

Uriah will play Longwell, a handsome, rich and entitled jock at the school. A rich kid, he despises The Colonel and all of his non-jock friends, making their lives as miserable as possible.

Jordan will play Kevin, another “Weekday Warrior” lacrosse bro. He follows Longwell’s lead in everything and blames The Colonel when a member of their clique gets expelled.

Hulu's 'Looking For Alaska' Casts Kristine Froseth & Charlie Plummer as Alaska & Miles

The leads for Hulu’s upcoming Looking For Alaska series were just announced and they are perfect!

Author John Green, who wrote the novel that the show is based on, revealed the actors who would be playing the characters on Twitter this afternoon.

“In the Looking for Alaska @hulu series, Alaska will be played by Kristine Froseth (kristine_froseth on instagram), and Miles will be played by Charlie Plummer (@charliefplummer here and on instagram–but mostly on instagram),” he wrote.

Previously, John addressed fans about the upcoming series and any possible backlash about the castings.

“his has been (over!) 13 years in the making, and I am so excited,” he wrote. “I am so grateful that LFA has an enthusiastic readership all these years after its publication. I know people have strong casting opinions, but I’d ask you to remember that the people who’ve been cast are human beings (and young ones), so please be kind if/when tagging them.”

John added, “Also, a friendly reminder that I do not cast movies or limited series adaptations on Hulu. But I did get to see both of these actors’ auditions, and they are both truly brilliant and embody the characters to me. They’re both also fans of the book, which is nice!”

Congrats to Kristine and Charlie!

John Green's 'Looking For Alaska' Being Developed as TV Series for Hulu

John Green's 'Looking For Alaska' Being Developed as TV Series for Hulu

Looking for Alaska might actually see the light of day!

After hearing many rumors about a big screen adaptation, like John Green‘s other novels “The Fault in Our Stars” and “Paper Towns”, “Looking for Alaska” has been optioned for an eight-part miniseries on Hulu!

Deadline reports that the project Josh Schwartz, has written the pilot, and will serve as executive producer and showrunner. John will be an executive producer on the project.

“Looking for Alaska” centers on Miles “Pudge” Halter who is done with his safe life at home. His whole life has been one big non-event, and his obsession with famous last words has only made him crave “the Great Perhaps” even more.

He heads off to the sometimes crazy and anything-but-boring world of Culver Creek Boarding School, and his life becomes the opposite of safe. Because down the hall is Alaska Young. The gorgeous, clever, funny, sexy, self-destructive, screwed up, and utterly fascinating Alaska Young.

She is an event unto herself. She pulls Pudge into her world, launches him into the Great Perhaps, and steals his heart. Then. . . After. Nothing is ever the same.

John Green Says No 'Looking For Alaska' Movie Will Be Made

We may not be getting that Looking For Alaska movie after all…

John Green took to Twitter this morning, addressing the movie based on his best selling book of the same name.

“As this has so many RTs, I guess I should say: No Looking for Alaska movie is forthcoming (to my knowledge anyway),” he wrote. “I have no control over the movie rights to Looking for Alaska. To my knowledge, Paramount (who own the rights) have no plans to make a film.”

This is really a bummer for JJJ, we loved the book and were looking forward to seeing it on the big screen.

John Green Tweets About 'Looking For Alaska' Movie & It's Not Looking Good

When the movie adaption for John Green‘s “Looking For Alaska” was getting underway last year, JJJ was super excited!

However, it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting that movie anytime soon nor will John be involved in the project at all — and we’re not happy about it, and neither are fans.

“Okay, I have a kind of important announcement. I don’t usually prepare you with pre-announcement tweets, but I think it’s warranted here,” John started out. “Okay. Are you ready? Here is the announcement: I do not cast movies.”

He continued in some now deleted tweets: “In fact, the movie studio that owns the rights to the book in question won’t return my phone calls. They haven’t for months…I don’t think they like me. The feeling is profoundly mutual. So I can’t even get someone to answer the telephone, let alone cast a film.”

In a recent vlog, John expressed interest in buying the rights to the book back from Paramount — but that’s not looking good either.

“At this point I’m not involved in the project in any way,” he said. “I’m not going to lie, it definitely bums me out.”
