Maddie Poppe wore a cute blue floral suit for her performance on Good Morning America on Wednesday morning (February 27) in New York City.
The 21-year-old singer stopped by the program to perform her brand new song called “Little Things” and to promote the upcoming season of American Idol.
Maddie also did something a little special for her fans – and took her Peoples’ Choice Award with her to the studio, to get a special picture with it.
“I know there have been a lot of you asking for a pic with me and the PCA! 🏆So here it is!!” Maddie shared with her fans on Instagram. “And just to let you know how lazy but also kinda clever I am, I drug it all the way to NYC so that after GMA (when I still had ‘camera-ready’ hair and makeup on) I would be able to take a picture with it.”
She added as a side note: “(Cuz you all know I’m not getting out of my @swoveralls_ unless it’s a VERY important occasion.)”

Maddie Poppe just finished recording her debut album!
The American Idol champ shared the big news with fans on her Instagram, as her team surprised her with a cupcake tree after the final song was finished.
“So I’ve been sorta MIA for the past few months, and it probably seems like I’m not doing much since I haven’t been playing shows or making any appearances, but the truth is, I’ve been super busy the past few months creating my up-coming ALBUM with @hollywoodrecords !!”
Maddie added, “It’s been a lot of work, and has gotten stressful and sorta lonely being here in LA for 42 nights, but it has been so much fun and so worth it.”
“I’m so excited for you to hear the new music I’ve been creating with these people + about 30 others. And Resonate (the recording studio in LA that I’ve cut almost every song at) made me the cutest little cupcake tree since it’s my last day recording here!!”
“Headed back home soon but so grateful for the time I’ve had & friends I’ve made while being in California.”

In a recent Q&A on her Instagram Stories with fans, Maddie shared that she would “100% marry him yesterday, if I could.”
“Never met anyone who made me so happy, and truly cared about every fiber of my being so much. He’s got a heart of gold and honestly, I’ll move anywhere,” Maddie shared. “If there’s one thing I’ve learned throughout the past year, it’s that HOME is where your people are. It doesn’t matter where I am, my people are what make me feel at home and whole inside.”

The event will kick off @ 10AM ET/PT on ABC and will feature the Christmas Day parade, special musical performances, surprise celebrity guests and heartwarming family stories to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year.

Maddie Poppe steps out in a floral blue dress for the 2018 Monster Energy Nascar Cup Series Awards held at Wynn Resort in Las Vegas on Thursday night (November 29).
The 20-year-old singer just recently confessed that she was kind of scared of winning American Idol this past year.
“I was so scared [to win Idol], you know, because you got signed to Hollywood and my idea of Hollywood at that time was like … they were with Demi and Miley and Selena,” she told Billboard. “You know, the music that those girls make is awesome, but it’s not what I wanna make.”
Maddie continued, “I was really worried that if I were to be signed with these people, they were gonna want me to be pop. And I was worried about what kind of freedom I would have. Because you hear all these stories all the time about people — you know, people like Kesha, saying things happen that she was forced to do.”
However, she was happy to see that her fears were never realized.
“I can say [now] I’m so happy I won, because it has been nothing like I had thought it might be,” Maddie adds. “It is so awesome. Everyone gives me so much freedom, and Hollywood has given me so much freedom to be who I wanna be.”
