Shailene Woodley has been super vocal in the protest against the Dakota Access Pipeline and has gotten lots of celeb support.
During Sundance Film Festival, the 25-year-old actress was surprised to learn one of those supporters was Malia Obama, who attended a protest of the pipeline.
“One of my best friend’s name is Malia and some of my friends were like ‘Shailene, Malia is over there, you should go say hi!’ And I was like ‘Yeah I know, I’ll talk to her in a minute.’ And they were like ‘No, it’s Malia Obama!” Shailene explained.
She added, “I thought it was really inspiring that no matter who you are, who your family is…it was neat to see her invested personally and separately from her family in these causes.”
Check out all that Shailene had to say in the video below…
Malia Obama is working hard at her dream internship.
The 18-year-old daughter of former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama kept things casual while making her way inside movie producer Harvey Weinstein‘s offices on Wednesday (February 8) in New York City.
Lena was on the radio earlier today and gushed about the 18-year-old former First Daughter!
“She was interested, and she was interning at HBO, and they thought, ‘What if she comes a couple days a week to the set of Girls,” Lena said. “Obviously, we weren’t making her go get our coffee. But she wanted to do all the jobs, that was the cool thing. She was totally enthusiastic.”
“She is so smart, I once asked her, ‘What’s your favorite movie?’ She was like, ‘Do you want me to list it by favorite, director, writer, or cinematographer. I was like, ‘You’re smarter than me, let’s just be done with this topic,’” Lena said.
“She’s done such a good job, and clearly her parents have done such a good job,” Lena continued. “When you see that family together, they’re not performative.”
Like many students her age, Malia Obama just began a new internship and it sounds like she’s totally rocking it!
