We are so bummed that this scene from Aladdin was cut from the final version of the movie, because it’s so good!
Composer Alan Menken explains that the scene was cut for time before explaining what the song was about.
“It’s the moment Aladdin and Jasmine first meet, and they realize this is a song that they both knew growing up,” he says. “But, they both sing that song separately from each other in the movie. It was a beautiful moment.”
The 27-year-old Aladdin star went shirtless in many of the photos, set in a garage for the mag, and opened up about taking on the role of a leading man and the power of diversity in the new film. Check it:
On connecting with Aladdin: “[Aladdin] is a young man finding his way in the world. He’s trying to figure out his identity. When he meets a pretty girl and he thinks he’s not good enough…. I grew up feeling like that. I also felt like an outcast. I went to a high school that didn’t have a lot of visibly ethnic people. I felt very different from everybody. And Aladdin is the same. […] I connected to that, because I knew I could bring my own experience to the role.”
On the diversity of Aladdin: “Everyone on screen is a person of colour and not only that, we’re all from very different places […] You know, I’m Egyptian-Canadian. Naomi is British-Indian. Marwan is Tunisian-Dutch. Navid [Negahban] is Iranian-American, but he also spent time in Germany. It’s all incredibly diverse and I hope people celebrate that.”
On being a leading man: “It’s harder for me to be a leading man, because of the lack of opportunity and the fact that people are not used to it. It’s going to take time for people to get used seeing a person of color as a lead actor, because we have been doing only one thing for so many years.”
Mena Massoud gives off his best smoulder in this hot pic from his cover story with Daman magazine.
The 27-year-old actor is opening up about how he won the role of Aladdin in the new live-action film and the pressure that comes with it.
“This was back in June/July of 2017, and the casting process was intense, but I also felt lucky because it all happened in a condensed period of time,” Mena recalls. “It didn’t linger on like some castings do for films like this.”
He continues, “I had put my audition on tape and we didn’t hear back for about four months. And then out of nowhere, I was asked to put myself on tape again over the weekend, the next week I flew out to London for a week to test. I came back to Toronto to finish a film I was working on, flew back to London a second time for another test, and then we found out I booked it.”
Mena added that hearing he won the role is a very surreal experience.
“I was incredibly excited and grateful, but I also think a part of me thought, ‘This is it, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for your whole life’,” he says. “I made a lot of sacrifices growing up and in my adolescence for my career and it felt like God and the universe were finally giving me a responsibility that I was excited to take on.”
The segment, which aired during Thursday’s (May 23) episode of The Late Late Show With James Corden, featured Naomi and Mena reprising their roles as Jasmine and Aladdin with Will Smith as Genie, and host James, as Abu!
Disney’s latest live-action reboot, Aladdin is in theaters now and fans are wondering if it’s worth sticking around after the credits roll for any bonus scenes.
So, does Aladdin have an end credits scene?
The short answer is: No. There isn’t an extra scene after Aladdin’s end credits role.
There is still a reason to stick around after the end of the movie, however.
While there isn’t a post-credits scene setting up a sequel, the end credits do feature an epic dance sequence featuring the film’s stars, Will Smith, Mena Massoud, and Naomi Scott.
Will Smith also stars in the live-action remake of the classic Disney animated movie. It’s expected to top the box office this weekend and you can download the soundtrack here.

Mena Massoud is opening up about playing such an iconic character as Aladdin.
In a new interview, the 27-year-old compared the role to that of a superhero.
“To me, this is as good as playing Batman and/or a superhero. It’s an iconic role and [Aladdin] certainly has a lot of gadgets like Batman,” he told E! News. “It’s a dream come true and it’s something that I couldn’t have asked for.”
“At the end of the day, we all put our hearts and souls into it. It meant just as much to us as to the people watching it growing up,” Mena added.
