Miles Heizer‘s longtime pal Mae Whitman had a very emotional reaction to his show 13 Reasons Why.
The 22-year-old actor, who plays Alex on the Netflix series, recently talked about her response and their conversations about the show.
“I still live with [my Parenthood co-star] Mae [Whitman] in her guest house and she texted me while she was watching the show,” Miles told THR. “We’ve had many conversations about it. Her reaction was very positive. It’s weird when your friend is in something and they’re gone filming and then you see it.”
“I remember she was doing The Duff and then I saw it and I was weeping,” Miles said. “She had a similar reaction. We have a very open relationship and were able to talk about these issues that are scary to talk about.”
In case you missed it, Miles also talked about the backlash the show received.
Miles Heizer has broken his silence on some of the backlash that 13 Reasons Why is getting.
The 22-year-old actor, who plays Alex on the Netflix series, fights back against the idea that the show glorifies suicide.
“It doesn’t glorify it whatsoever. It’s necessary to show the brutal reality of things,” Miles told THR. “I don’t think anyone watched Hannah’s suicide scene and was thrilled by it. It’s a very realistic depiction and shows what a horrifying experience that is. That’s not something anyone would want to go through or have anyone go through. After watching it, I was screaming crying. I was so upset by it. Showing it in that way makes it into a reality as opposed to a glorification. She’s not dying peacefully in a bath tub, it’s painful and brutal. I watched that scene after it came out and watching it, I was not prepared. I was filming [Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens] with Katherine [Langford] in Atlanta and my immediate reaction was, “Oh my God, I have to see Katherine and know that she’s OK.” It was hard knowing Katherine and seeing that because it felt so real to me. I’m glad I got to see her the next day.”
He added, “A lot of people shy away from the reality of what that looks like and what people go through when that happens. When you see it, it opens your eyes to make sure it doesn’t happen to anyone. It makes you want to help people and make a difference.”

13 Reasons Why only premiered last month, and already we’re getting a reunion — kind of.
Turns out that Katherine Langford and Miles Heizer, who played Hannah and Alex, are going to star in a new movie together.
The flick is called Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda and will also star Nick Robinson and Logan Miller and be directed by Greg Berlanti.
Based on the book by Becky Albertalli, the movie will be about a not-so-openly gay teenager Simon Spier who, after a email written by him falls into the wrong hands, is forced to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before being pushed out.
We can’t wait to see it!
13 Reasons Why fans went nuts with joy when rumors surfaced that actors Miles Heizer and Brandon Flynn may be dating in real life.
Sadly, according to a new report, the guys are just friends – not a couple.

“This is a false report,” a rep for Miles reportedly told Page Six. “Miles and Brandon are friends from the show but are not dating.”
While this may seem like a bummer, it’s cool to know the cast is so close!
It’s likely part of the “reason” (hah, get it?) the show turned out so good.

In case you missed the news, Miles may or may not be dating his co-star Brandon Flynn, who plays Justin on the show. They haven’t confirmed anything, but fans are shipping them together!
Fans of 13 Reasons Why are freaking out right now because Alex Standall and Justin Foley may be dating in real life.
And by Alex and Justin we mean actors Miles Heizer and Brandon Flynn.

Dylan Minnette will play the lead character Clay in the upcoming Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, Deadline reports.
The 19-year-old Goosebumps actor will play opposite Australian newcomer Katherine Langford as Hannah in the adaptation produced by Selena Gomez.
Also joining the project are Brandon Flynn, Christian Navarro, Alisha Boe , Justin Prentice, Devin Druid, Miles Heizer and Ross Butler.
The series is an adaptation of a novel by Jay Asher that follows Clay throughout the course of an intense night as decodes a box of cassette tapes his late crush Hannah left him before she committed suicide.
