The 17-year-old musician has signed a massive talent and consumer products partnership with the brand.
Johnny and MTV will work together to develop multiplatform initiatives that span across consumer products, music and live events. They are also currently working on a comprehensive strategy for the talented artist, which includes musical performances on-air and across digital platforms as well as appearances in MTV programming and tent pole events.
There are currently plans in the works for “an exclusive line of cross-category consumer products with merchandise that will range from fashion and accessories, to publishing, social expressions, home decor, and much more. Products will be developed in collaboration with Orlando and will reflect his personal style, interests and passions.”
“As an eight-year-old kid, I remember watching endless hours of music videos on MTV. I could have only dreamt of one day entering into a partnership with this iconic brand,” Johnny said in a statement. “Their recognition and support represents a huge vote of confidence in me as an artist. Getting the opportunity to work with the amazing team behind the brand has exceeded my wildest dreams. I’m grateful to know that they believe in my talents and I’m looking forward to creating some cool stuff for all of you.”
“We were thrilled to see Johnny win his first MTV EMA Award last year,” Bruce Gillmer, President of Music, Music Talent, Programming & Events, ViacomCBS, said. “We look forward to our exciting new partnership and his continued success.”
The reunion will be hosted by MTV News‘ Josh Horowitz, and will benefit First Responders First Charity. You can watch it on the official MTV YouTube channel, as well as the Teen Wolf official social accounts.
MTV Reunions will be a recurring series that allows fans of TV shows seeing their favorite stars reuniting to raise money for charity.
MTV is full of changes this year! In a progressive new move, MTV has dropped its restrictive gender categories for the first upcoming 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards.
This comes after the news that MTV will be expanding its usual movie awards to include TV and will be adding a huge Coachella-esque music festival before-hand, creating a new award show entirely.
Instead of having “Best Actor” and “Best Actress” categories, MTV will simply have one “Best Actor” award for both a movie and a show, with candidates from all genders vying for the coveted Golden Popcorn trophies.
This is an amazing move, because it acknowledges the public’s growing discomfort with being defined and separated based on gender, and it makes the award show more inclusive for those who do not identify with male or female.
Also, PSA: Pitch Perfect star Adam Devine is hosting the awards show, so it promises to be hilarious. Watch it all go down at Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium on Sunday, May 7 at 8:00 p.m EST.
Every ’90s and 2000s kid’s favorite reality show — My Super Sweet 16 — is coming back, and by the looks of it, it will be sweeter than ever!
MTV and musical.ly are partnering to revive the hit TV series, and we couldn’t be more psyched. Musers can submit video entries on musical.ly using the hashtag #MySuperSweetAudition for the opportunity to be featured in a future episode!
Winners will be selected by MTV and musical.ly to advance forward to meet with producers.
This is the first time that MTV will use a mobile app to cast one of its shows, which is a major change from their usual casting methods.
“The casting for My Super Sweet 16 is just the beginning of engaging the muser audience more deeply into current and future MTV programming,” MTV president Chris McCarthy
