Noah Galvin Says Colton Haynes' Coming Out Was 'The Worst'

Noah Galvin opens up candidly about the gay community in Hollywood.

The 22-year-old Real O’Neals actor sat down with Vulture about his experience as a gay man playing a gay character on television, and more. Check it:

On closeted gay men in Hollywood: “There was a kid who guested on our show. He was flirting with me so blatantly, to the point where he asked me out a few times. At one point I turned to him and was like, Are you gay? And he was like, Well … I don’t know. I’m more like, go with the flow. And I was like, Shut the f-ck up. Get out of my face with your wishy-washy bullshit answer. You’re a fucking f–ot. Like, I know you are. You know you are. Stop beating around the bush. Just go make out with me in my dressing room.”

On the portrayal of gays on screen: “Are you trying to get me to throw somebody under the bus right now? Because I’ve thrown Eric Stonestreet under the bus a solid seven times this week. No, I think as wonderful of an actor as Eric Stonestreet is – I’ve never met him, I assume he’s a wonderful guy – he’s playing a caricature of a caricature of a stereotype of stereotype on Modern Family. And he’s a straight man in real life. And as hilarious as that character is, there’s a lack of authenticity. I think people – especially young gay kids – they can laugh at it, and they can see it as a source of comedy, but like, nothing more than that. And I want Kenny to be more than the funny gay kid.”

On Colton Haynes coming out: “The worst…But you know he talked about coming out. He didn’t actually say he was gay. That’s not coming out. That’s f-cking p-ssy bullshit. That’s like, enough people assume that I sleep with men, so I’m just going to slightly confirm the fact that I’ve sucked a d-ck or two. That’s not doing anything for the little gays but giving them more masturbation material.”

Matt Shively's 'The Real O'Neals' Premieres TONIGHT on ABC!

Matt Shively's 'The Real O'Neals' Premieres TONIGHT on ABC!

Jimmy, Kenny and Shannon help mom Eileen carry a canoe back to their home in this still from the premiere of The Real O’Neals.

In the series premiere, the O’Neals appear to be a seemingly picture perfect family, but their lives soon take an unexpected turn when surprising truths are revealed — Eileen (Martha Plimpton) is a mom who usually has a fine grasp on all matters under her roof, and her soon-to-be-ex-husband Pat (Jay R. Ferguson) is a good-natured father and the emotional center of the family. Their normal routine at home suddenly gets turned upside down when Eileen and Pat announce their divorce, and their sixteen-year-old-son Kenny (Noah Galvin) reveals to his family that he is gay.

Jimmy (Matt Shively) unapologetically wears his heart on his sleeve and genuinely tries to figure out what’s best in any situation, while Shannon (Bebe Wood) is the youngest but carries herself more mature than her age.

In the second episode, “The Real Papaya”, following the “coming out” confessions made by everyone in the O’Neal family, Eileen is desperate to control the situation and tries to make Kenny “un-gay.”

The Real O’Neals airs TONIGHT, Wednesday, March 2nd @ 8:30PM ET/PT & 9:30PM ET/PT on ABC. 70+ pics inside…
