The logo for Percy Jackson & The Olympians has been revealed!

This is the only tidbit we have from the upcoming new Disney+ series, and it was shared by the author Rick Riordian.

“A super short teaser that will appear today at the Disney shareholders meeting. Still a long way to go but I am so excited! #percyjackson #disneyplus,” he wrote on TikTok.

The logo was revealed as part of the 2020 The Walt Disney Company Investor Day event, where Disney made SO many announcements. Check out a recap of all the reveals!

News of a Percy Jackson series was revealed earlier this year, with Rick and his wife being involved every step of the way. Almost a month after announcing the series, Rick slammed the Percy Jackson movies in a series of tweets.

'Percy Jackson' Author Rick Riordan Slams Movie Series, Calls Them a 'Mess'

The author of the Percy Jackson book series has speaking out against the two movies.

Rick Riordan responded to a Twitter user who was watching the first film on Disney+ and asked if it had been edited.

“I don’t know, but clearly it’s a mistake. They should censor the entire thing. Just two hours of blank screen,” he replied.

Another user said that it was “refreshing” that Rick also hated the movies.

“Well, to you guys, it’s a couple hours entertainment. To me, it’s my life’s work going through a meat grinder when I pleaded with them not to do it. So yeah. But it’s fine. All fine. We’re gonna fix it soon…” Rick said in response.

“Finally, I still have not seen the movies, and don’t plan on ever doing so. I judge them from having read the scripts, because I care most about the story. I certainly have nothing against the very talented actors. Not their fault. I’m just sorry they got dragged into that mess,” he added.

In case you missed it, Rick recently announced that he is working on a new TV series based on the books for Disney+. See what star Logan Lerman said in response to the news!

Logan Lerman is sharing his thoughts on the just announced Percy Jackson series in the works!

The 28-year-old actor is hoping for the best and congratulated author Rick Riordan.

“Excited to see this! Hope it gets the adaptation the books deserve. Congrats @rickriordan,” he wrote on Twitter.

Logan of course played Percy Jackson in the two film adaptations, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.

Though the series is in very early stages and casting decisions have not been made, the original film cast will most likely not be involved in the new television adaptation.

If you didn’t know, the two films come from 20th Century Fox, which were both bought out by The Walt Disney Company in 2019. This comes as no surprise that the series will be on Disney+.

Disney+ is working on a Percy Jackson & the Olympians series!

The streaming service is currently in development on a TV show based off of the Percy Jackson book series.

The author of the series, Rick Riordan, and his wife made the announcement on his Twitter account.

“Hey Percy Jackson fans, for the past decade, you’ve worked hard to champion a faithful on-screen adaptation of Percy Jackson’s world,” he wrote in a statement. “Some of you have even suggested it would be a great series for Disney+. We couldn’t agree more! We can’t say much more at this stage but we are very excited about the idea of a live-action series of the higest quality, following the storyline of the original Percy Jackson five-book series, starting with the The Lightning Third in season one.”

“Rest assured that Becky & I will be involved in person in every aspect of the show. There will be much more news in the future, but for now, we have a lot of work to do!” Rick continued. “Buckle up, demigods. It’s going to be a fantastic, exciting ride!”

'Percy Jackson' Fans Are Trying to Get A Netflix Series

Would you watch a Percy Jackson television show? Some fans are hoping for just that!

While the series was adapted into two movies, starring Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, and Brandon T. Jackson, many fans are upset that the book series didn’t get what it deserved, and that it should be remade into a TV series.

“Ever think about how Percy Jackson had the potential of Harry Potter as a franchise and have the opportunity to grow up with the character but instead we were given two sh—y movies,” one fan wrote on Twitter, adding, “also to rub salt in the wound : the finishing of pjo could’ve easily lead into heroes of Olympus and we could’ve easily seen leo jason piper frank and hazel on our screens but guess what? we were robbed. anyways. this is proof pjo is not past its prime and if jk can still ride the harry potter train we want a GOOD REBOOT @netflix GIVE US A TV SHOW YOU COWARDS.”

Another fan suggested maybe an animated version. “If it was animated… and done accurate to the books! The movies did us all so dirty, please fix that mistake.”

Percy Jackson has also been made into musical and will be going on tour across the US next year. Head to LightningThiefMusical.com for more info!
